I 'scored' a try there a few years back, diving over the blue line, arm up in celebration much to the amusement of the opposition and supporters...Was a bit of a shame to see two plays (at least) in the Wests / Rocky 4ths game significantly affected by the unclear pitch markings (in blue in some places, white in others where it's the same as the soccer pitch). I take it Wests has raised this and it's a 'suck it up' situation from those in charge?
There was talk of a move to Stirling a few years back but it was quickly knocked on the head by their money men I seem to remember.
Was the idea of reversing the colours floated, Westie Man? If all of the rugby was in white - well, that's easy for rugby.
With soccer in blue and white, they'd be mostly concerned with the boundaries of the playing area - with touchies on both lines already, a whopping set of goals (that they're normally concerned about hitting, less so with union as who cares where the try is scored) and no concerns about the zones of play in between unless you're taking a kickoff, which isn't a split second decision anyway and would be in white.
Anyway... food for thought.
They do whatever they want, commonsense is something soccer wankers seem to be in short supply of.They have something like 48 teams and 2 soccer club members also happen to be on the Subiaco council so obviously it's very difficult trying to get changes for our benefit
48 teams, 11 per team plus reserves; that's quite a few players.
Wests rugby club has...
Not quite 48 teams, 22 per team; that's quite a few less than the soccer.
Common sense indicates soccer wins with the pitch markings call.
You'd have thought, though, that the soccer and rugby folk might have got together to try and agree that the outside boundary lines could be the same dimensions (getting the relevant "Powers That Be" to also agree) so that one white line could be used for them.
The inside lines (5m, 15m, 10m, 22m and centre) could be any colour really, hey?
Common sense seems not to have been that much of a factor after the bit about soccer winning the line markings call.
Soccer pitch dimensions can vary from 91 to 110 metres in length approx, rugby pitch dimensions are 100 metres in length, soccer chose the 91 metres just to be awkward and wouldn't budge. Imagine the uproar if we cut 9 metres off the rugby field.Hope that answer's your query Ecky
Precisely.
They COULD'VE had the same dimensions then.
