not too shabby then, I stand corrected. Although I thought the game against Iran was a warm up here in Australia![]()
I think it says something about a competition that was lucky to hang on to it's TV rights this season (according to a couple of reports i read on foxsports.com.au and a few other online websites), a team that can't sell out a staditum that holds 4, 500. Then again probably one of the better average crowds
Regardless of who's fault teams folding every few years is going to reflect badly on a competition, it was a problem in the old NSL. How many sides have folded over the past few years?

We played 3 warm up games against them and won all 3. Then we played them in the olympics and won by alot.not too shabby then, I stand corrected. Although I thought the game against Iran was a warm up here in Australia![]()
Just to let you know, the Melourne-South Dragon derby drew a crowd of 9,308 fans to Hisense Arena.I think it says something about a competition that was lucky to hang on to it's TV rights this season (according to a couple of reports i read on foxsports.com.au and a few other online websites), a team that can't sell out a staditum that holds 4, 500. Brisbane Bullets, Singapore Slingers, Sydney Kings have the teams to have folded in the past 5 years.Regardless of who's fault teams folding every few years is going to reflect badly on a competition, it was a problem in the old NSL. How many sides have folded over the past few years?
Sydney Kings went down because of firepower, Singapore Slingers are gone and Cairns Taipans & the Sydney based team who replaced the Kings are about gone as well.
It could benefit the teams left because the players from the 'departing' teams will be looking to go somewhere and players in a team will be trying to keep their place, not to mention the limited number of teams left, would provisde limited opportunities to watch and hopefully increase demand.
Actually, they were the West Sydney Razorbacks but in a bid to "unify" Sydney moved to Sydney and became the Sydney Spirit.Sydney Kings went down because of firepower, Singapore Slingers are gone and Cairns Taipans & the Sydney based team who replaced the Kings are about gone as well.
That's exactly why the league has as much talent and quality as ever...It could benefit the teams left because the players from the 'departing' teams will be looking to go somewhere and players in a team will be trying to keep their place, not to mention the limited number of teams left, would provisde limited opportunities to watch and hopefully increase demand.
and the Wildcats haven't missed a post-season since about the second or third year of NBL's existence iirc (not absolutely sure about the last 5 years, but reasonably sure they've got somewhere). Of course having a number of teams less will make it easier...
shame about Brissy folding. Wildcats v Bullets were always great games (*remembers quadruple overtime...*)

And attract an average crowd of 1,500 to 2,000
The fact that Brisbane and Sydney Kings folded is the reason fox sports wanted out of the TV deal.
Do the Victoria Titans still exist? They were a merged team as well weren't they?
Was it last year that there were 12 teams in the league with a top 8??

But it's OK
Crikey... the weekend before Christmas... and nothing to do????

it is the courage to continue that counts.

Jargs, you don't like basketball. I don't either.
Some people do. Live and let live.
Dont you mean - I felt a little spiteful.....
Its ok Jargs - its a big world out there - that means that people are allowed to like more than the Western Force, Sydney Swans, St George Illawarra Dragons and Cricket.
I guess we have found where that South African blog writer was talking about when he said we could be intimidating.
