So, which do you think will get more condemnation on RugbyHQ this week - Benny Mac's spear tackle or Michael Cheika's window smashing?
WT? .........Michael Cheika's window smashing?.......
That's funny - if you look at the photo it looks more like a fist punched into type of hole, not a cracked glass from being slammed.
Seems a bit extreme to continue to carry on play acting after the guy has been binned and the penalty awarded. He didn't hit his head, but doesn't mean he wasn't in pain, could be a stinger or something like that.
Also while watching those last torture minutes did anyone notice the clock was being stopped for an inordinately longer amount of time, and it didn't seem to be just for player subbing. Did anyone else notice this to be the case?
I want to know why he wasn't sent off for a concussion test if he was holding his head and the tackle was ruled dangerous. Send them straight off for the 10 minute test and that should stop the acting up a bit IMHO.
80 Minutes, 15 Positions, No Protection, Wanna Ruck?
Ruck Me, Maul Me, Make Me Scrum!
Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
Michael Cheika is everyone's darling. The door incident will be written off as "boys will be boys" or "justifiable considering the situation"
Benny, since he's a Wallaby, will be Tut Tutted at and told he was silly.
If he gets a suspension then it will be talked about as the death of the Force because the whole team is only as good as Benny Mac. (Not that he hasn't been playing brilliantly)
BTW the Force's win will be another "The Highlanders lost that game" not a "The Force deserved to win" with lots of "The Force are the Highlanders 'hoodoo' team" as if there's some mystical or psychological reason why the Force won rather than the Force finally building some self belief.
Seriously I've seen the Crusaders play like absolute rubbish and still win due to nothing more then the strong belief that they should.
The other teams somehow just seem to give up.
You also need to factor in the referees' perceptions that they (and other dominant teams) SHOULD win. That was again evident on Saturday, particularly in penalties for breakdown infringements. The boys gutsed it out well enough to counter that. But we are a long, long way from turning those perceptions against the big teams. Continue to play well, earn respect for that and the rub of the green may start to even out against at least some opponents. Little steps.
According to this SA Rugby website, we are looking up to a month for Benny Mac to run water...
With the SANZAR suspensions being Weeks, and not Games, 2 - 3 weeks would be good in my eyes with a bye in there too, I hope we only see him on the sidelines for 1 to 2 games ??
