BOKKE“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White
KQ tissues ready, doggies walked , hoards fed, Beer fridge full - I'm ready - kinda thinking the accountants at the ARU will be rooting for Ireland to - the stadium in Melbourne will be packed if the punters reckon there's a game on - fully under Burgs point of view to - how and ever it is not often an Irish Fan gets a chance like this and I to have faith in Ozzie Robs ability to put the Wallabies back in the sun after a suitable apprenticeship (i.e. getting beaten by the upstart Munster men) - ok I'm dreaming.
Whatever happens - lets hope all of this is the start of some inspiring, expansive entertaining rugby![]()

i think we need to change the thread title...
A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

Only saw literally the last two minutes but sounded like it was a pretty good match in terrible conditions?

The Irish had em - but gave it away through ill discipline - O' Driscoll has no control over the men from Munster - was good watching though up until the point were the ref copped on to the Irish technique - Stirling will need to keep tempers under control next week.

Tialata rates Irish test as one of the best
By Adrian Bathgate
WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Howling wind and driving rain set the scene for what prop Neemia Tialata said was one of his best games in an All Black jersey after New Zealand overcame Ireland 21-11 on Saturday.

this is what O'Driscoll said - as ever looking at everyone else
O'Driscoll laments another lost opportunity to beat NZ
WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Frustrated Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll was left to lament what might have been after his side pushed the All Blacks to the brink on Saturday but were unable to secure their first win against New Zealand.

Most of the reports talk about Carter as creating the turning point in the game - the Kiwis took their oppurtunities when presented on a plate by Marcus Horan you fouled in front of the ref - this led to a penalty which put the Kiwi's in front - Horan got subed off then Nonu got a ripper of a try while the Irish defence where still in disarray - the frist Kiwi try was O'Driscoll's fault - he failed to take his man.
O' Connell for captain - he is older but has a calm head and some from - the Irish beat the Baba's with him - he captained the Munster side in the Heinken Cup this year and of course he captained the side to the historic win against England in Croke Park. O'Driscoll great player - to much of a show pony to be a captain - the Irish weren't far short of the Kiwi's yesterday they just lost it through lack of discipline.

Couldn't let this one go.
A beautiful start (despite the conditions) to another AB-dominating international rugby calendar. Sure the Irish put up a good show and a spirited fight, and were it not for the weather we might have had an even better spectacle (though result would have been the same). England this weekend and I suspect a royal spanking is on the cards.
As for Ireland, the Wallabies it is and my loyalties for the game will shift to the Wobblies. In the past I would have supported any team against the Wobblies, however, my fanaticism for the Force seems to be having a follow-on effect. I can only hope this will not lead in future to schizo tendancies when the ABs and Wobblies collide.
We're winning them over, one at a time![]()
