I was at the game too. It didn't rain at all during the match - just bloody cold.
I agree the combinations in attack were good,
lots of support for runners,
they did have to defend - but were a class too high for Gold.
That Siganiyavi is damn good. On the far wing he didn't look fast but in the second half he went down the wing like a steam train. His legs are slow - they just make bloody big strides.
Oh and he has a classic Fiji/Maori side-step ... straight line.
Still a bit of work to polish at the breakdown I thought, but yes its hard to think of something new after 10 unanswered trys.
ratu is a damn good player when he wants to be, can be a bit lazy at times though but that is when he is only playing club comp - easily steps up when required. and yes he is a giant!! surely he isnt 19 lol the fijian version of jonah lomu hits w.a
how awesome was ratu last night? reminded me of Jonah lomu, the way he was running through the defenders!! I noticed some young kids asking him for an autograph after the game, a sign of things to come!!!
All up the spirit looked pretty well drilled, both in attack and defence, not that they did a lot of defending. the new rules seem to work well, and the game flowed well, without a lot of stoppages.looking forward to seeing the spirit in action against some real competition.
i was there as well, just havent been online for a couple of days. It was freezing down there. Have to comment on the very professional carrying of the water by matt henjak (at least i thought it was him)
It was him...mmm i thought he looked really pumped in his full trackie, chewing gum and carrying water bottles...who would have thought he was the captain?Originally Posted by jargan83
