Ah yes, that wonderful chestnut, "was just fishing", covers all manner of ill conceived notions.
I guess the media are "just fishing" when they use similar lines too?

Burgs any time I use "poach" in this forum it will be a fish. You blokes are like the Reds and Brumbies supporters and have a bit of a chip on the shoulder against guys from the big smoke - and I would be the same if I lived in Perth, Canberra or Brisbane - God forbid.
They jump out of the woodwork sometimes like one of Pavlov's dog's when the dinner bell is heard.
It's a bit of fun - don't take it so seriously. It's childish I know - but nobody is perfect.
[PS "God forbid" was a fish too.]
If I had a chip on my shoulder that would imply I believe "guys from the big smoke" to be better off or more fortunate.
That's not the case at all, it's more that in general I find them ignorant, insular and myopic, believing Parramatta to be rural and Penrith the sticks, with anything beyond the mountains foreign or to be raped for their own benefit.
Having experienced both, I wouldn’t swap it for quid’s and can fully understand why so many who visit the other backwaters you mention choose to stay.

Mate don't be so precious - and prove you have done so by ignoring me.
