Actually 34-32 to Scotch - which was a lot healthier than the 62-0 loss to Hale earlier in the term!!

    Results round 1-3:

    Rd 1: CCGS 5 v Wesley 46; Guildford 30 v Trinity 0; Hale 62 v Scotch 0; Aquinas bye
    Rd 2: Trinity 7 v Hale 60; Wesley 14 v Guildford 25; Aquinas 5 v CCGS 20; Scotch bye
    Rd 3: Guildford 31 v Aquinas 6; Hale 38 v Wesley 19; Scotch 34 v Trinity 32; CCGS bye

How is that much healthier Hale put 60 points on both teams, that's the only direct comparison, and the match between the teams had 2 points in it.

I'd suggest that Trinity's 7 points against Hale was probably a lucky consolation try and both teams are about the same.

Next round will count much more to see whether Trinity and Scotch are far worse than the pack or whether Hale is far better (or indeed whether the first three rounds are nothing more than an interesting anomaly)

I was talking to one of the Guildford parents yesterday and he's saying that Hale are running scared..
Guildfords only weakness this year is depth, they have a very talented core group and hopefully wont pick up any injuries coming into the toughest game of the season next week. If they hold on to everyone they will looking to break Hales unbeaten run and continue theirs.. sounds like its going to be a cracker!

...........well a GGS parent would say that, wouldn't they? A Hale parent would probably have a different perspective, I imagine.

My two cents' worth: I have seen GGS and WC a couple of times this year. I have not seen HS nor CCGS. Yet.

I think WC will beat GGS on the form that I've seen. If WC couldn't beat HS then GGS will need a mighty effort to do so.

I gather, from folk who have seen HS, that the trick is to put them under scoreboard pressure; something WC couldn't do on the day.

I think you're right though, Zim; should be a mighty clash (sadly, being on a Thursday, I'll not be able to witness it meself), but I think the GGS/WC game (26 June I think) should be a cracker as well.

From personal experience I know there is a building pressure that comes from being undefeated.
I had to captain into the third season undefeated for Scotch and there was a massive extra pressure.
Although would have loved to have won that first match and it may well have seen us take the comp for a third year (we ended up =3rd) it was a huge pressure relief for many in the team in being rid of the whole undefeated thing too.
16 and 17 year olds aren't always up for that kind of extra pressure.
