yeah, then run the optical from your TV to your amp and bingo, high quality surround sound from your games (don't forget to turn the sound down from your tv, most setups will have a slight delay)
The whole windows media centre approach through the Xbox is a snap if you have your Xbox networked already, set up windows media centre on your pc and add your Xbox as an extender and voila
C'mon the
not from what I hear.
many complaints at my school

I hate Sony and all their proprietary memory sticks and Sony only file formats etc but have always been unable to go past the Playstation in all its formats... I think Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid helped things along too where Halo never did it for me.
PS4 will continue that tradition I suspect.

Fair enough. I've done a fair bit of reading on it and there are a fair few people excited. Personally I'm going to wait until they have both been out for a few months before I invest. Will have a decent go on them at friends houses before I go out and buy. I'm not really loyal to on console over the other. Games like Halo are not enough to keep me on Xbox, and most of the other ones are all released in both formats anyway.

I recently got one of these: http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/bu...375/712969-375 (edit: $229 + shipping with coupon code) to act as the home file and media server. I installed Plex server on it for media transcoding and use a Raspberry Pi with Rasplex on it as the media player on the main TV. Also have Plex clients on the iPods/Tablets/Laptops in the house so media can be streamed pretty much everywhere and an old Pi which runs XBMC which talks happily to it.
No good for games - but you could probably throw a TV tuner or two in there? As a server only, it doesn't need to be near the TV so will eventually move from my desk to the closet near the front door where it could hopefully be easily yanked out in case of emergency as it also has all our photos and data on it. Ended up only costing the $249 + additional storage + a few $$ for PLEX clients.
Lots of blogs on setting up the N40L (almost identical) as HTPC / Home server - it's worth a Google.
There are some coupon code here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/105587 also worth looking at

Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
TLH,,what are they saying?
I've read plenty on it but most of the authors I've read would be best described as cautious. I think Microsfot have possibly gone to far down the entertainment centre route, let's not forget that games consoles primarily play games.
I never got beyond thinking about getting an X-Box 360, constant reports of the dreaded red ring of death did nothing to help and like you said most games are released on both consoles. The exclusives for the 360 weren't enough to get me to fork out the cash and Halo is over rated
You shouldn't have to fix it! Microsoft shouldn't have out a product out with such an obvious fault
My PS3 died months after I got it due to a design fault with some of the earlier versions and Sony swapped it for a new one straight away
