Not sure about an earth grid, but there have been a few phases of contamination clean-up. Whether that is now all over or has the potential to rear its ugly head again, who knows? From memory it was asbestos, oil and heavy metals...not sure about PCBs.
Sure to be some PCB's there.....
You'd think so. Funny that they are worried about the risk of overruns at MES, when they want to use an old industrial site. Especially given what happened with respect to environmental clean-up at Brockway.
i hear there is some potential land in south freo as well. right on C'Y O'connor beach.
apprently it's ALMOST asbestos free

change map to satellite view and zoom in.

"Floreat Athena play their home games at their own stadium, E & D Litis Stadium. The stadium is located in Mount Hawthorn and can hold between three and five thousand people."
Its right next to the Mitchell Freeway. They'd need to built an off-ramp that goes over the freeway and over the other side to get to the stadium and then provide parking somewhere for how ever many cars...and some public transport possibly. Maybe a train station inside the stadium area for people to get on and off at.

Riiight....that'll be the cheap option then!
Haven't they already spent millions of dollars looking at potential stadium sites? Why didn't they just let Packer's mob build it at Burswood?
Looking at the satellite map there's a lot of green space to the east, and the train line runs up the freeway.
But the stadium is half-way between Leederville and Glendalough, so you'd probably have to build a new station, which means quite major roadworks to make space for it, right next to Lake Monger (difficult) and at one of the major points of traffic congestion (nice!).
The East Perth Power Station site does have attractions - next to the river and the freeway, but it's probably easier to get to the train station (Claisebrook) from MES.
