how shall i explain this...
in over 100years of history, the Queensland Reds have never been known as QR, the only 'QR' acronym associated with the Reds is the company Queensland Rail.
If you are going to use the example EWF, then the relevant acronym would be QRQR, in which case just typing 'Reds' is just as easy.
Bit hard TOCC when the press releases out of QRU say "QR Reds"
The QR Reds backline has received a timely boost with Wallabies playmaker and interim captain Berrick Barnes primed for a return in the team’s final trial match, against the Western Force at Ballymore on Thursday night.
Commercialism .
Actually, typing 'QRQR' is easier than typing 'Reds' as it consists of repeating 2 letters rather than 4 different letters. Also, 'QRQR' is all in capital letters whereas 'Reds' has an initial capital, requiring additional typing effort!!!

Mudskipper - full of sh.t what u are journo is this advert editorial
force fans are the only people i have ever known to name there team including the sponsor, maybe its because you have never changed sponsors or something.
but reds, brumbies and tahs fans just call there team by there actual name, we leave the corporate jargon to the corporates!
wait, did someone change the title of this thread?
Nope.....just as it was.
I don't actually know of any Force supporters who use the sponsors name in conversation
It is quite normal to see the Emirates Western Force, QR Reds, HSBC Waratahs and the CA Brumbies in the media and on their own websites though.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Yep so we will call the EWF, WF, thats fine with me..........QR prob not wasting my typing effort on contining this, TOCC ... LOSER is pretty quick to type
