I went to the Samoa game and the crowd was good. I agree the Northern Hemisphere tours should be scrapped. It sets the world cup up for a much more unpredictable and entertaining competition every four years. Just stick with an expanded super 14 and tri, quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon or however many sided comp they end up with. "The Hexagon Nations", would get plenty of hits from math geeks anyway.
They've got their six nations it's time we had ours.
^ And a tour every few years wouldn't go astray. South Africa tours Europe one year, New Zealand the next, Australia the next and then World Cup. You have to play them sometime, why not make it an old fashioned Lions-esque tour.
Not unless they were making it well worth our while. This isn't about the aesthetics of the sport - what has SANZAR pissed off is weak teams coming down here and getting lukewarm sales, then the ABs (for instance) go up there and sell out Stade de France or Twickenham.
compared to that $1 million what does the RFU etc make in revenue when the Wallabies/All Blacks/Saffers play up there?

i believe the deal was with one of the broadcast companies over there, if the ARU could get the Wallabies to play in England every year they would pay each union $1million, im guessing the RFU also took the gate takings and any extra broadcast money.
i think i read it in JON's book, it was a dodgy deal because at that stage unions werent supposed to negotiate deals like that, it was supposed to be organised through the IRB.
In regards to revenue (gate takings, extra broadcast money etc) you would have to assume it would be a bit of coin. If the deal isn't in operation you would think the RFU would take the threat of scrapping end of year tours seriously
