Well, thats why Professional, International Sports set their play dates well in advance.
The ARU, and Sanzar, have a ten year fixture outline.

But hack amatuer sports always leave it to the last minute.

I heard that too Slomo..infact they mentioned another possible clash if some WA ( aussie rules) rep team makes it to some final (sorry folks, missed out on the details)..which would be worse as this cannot be confirmed until the last minute.

In both cases, the AFL games will get priority, I think the rugby games have (or will be) switched to the day before or after the AFL game.

This is the price rugby has to pay and will continue paying if the new stadium (whenever that comes to fruition) is controlled by WAFL.

Now, we have ANOTHER reason why WA (as the economic powerhouse of Aust) needs TWO stadia - one oval, one rectangle.

    thats a load of shit.
the force fixtures were out way before the bloody AFL ones.
the AFL should have been professional enough to look at stadium bookings before they relesed theirs.
it was only because of the ratings that west coast playing carton (with juddy) would bring that they are having a friday night game in the first place...

You could be onto something there jono, that fixture was only confirmed after the deal had been done with Judd.

Even if the WAFC are not running the new stadium....in the Taskforce report it stated that "Eagle and Dockers" would still have priority booking to the new stadium.

Could be interesting. If the WAFL were aware and had agreed to the rugby fixturing, SANZAR should go after them for compensation of any outlay they have made or can justify. Wonder if Newscorp has made any forward plans/sales?

Which really would get up Fox's nose, as there would not be room for another game between the Reds/Blues and Bulls/Waratahs matches. Makes a mess of their live fixturing, so I wonder whether they would then propose Sunday?

Selfishly, that might not be too bad. Gives me time for a shower, a decent feed, a couple of beers and a slow meander to the field as opposed to the Sprint-to-Subi-straight-after-work Friday night game.

I really don't want to see us playing in a half-empty 60,000 seater stadium (with or without retracting seats). Much better for us to be with the other rectangular sports in our own 35,000 seater stadium.

i've only just heard of this and went and checked it out andits a bit of a joke, our fixtures were out first so the AFL should have checked the ground bookings etc
