It will be great for the Pacific Islands.
It is a bit of a shame (for the mens at least) that it will only include 12 teams, hopefully that will develop with time. Especially with the IRB committing to dumping their own tournament. A little confused with that.
Personally I would have liked to see it really stretched out to at least the 36 of HK and seen the fixtures spread over say five days with a rest day or the like.
Nonetheless, delighted for the inclusion and the ramifications for the code.

There were 40 teams at the World Cup too so it is a little strange - maybe the IRB felt they didn't want to wear out their welcome.
Those qualifying tournaments will be something though won't they? There will be around 90 countries (i.e. 180 teams) competing in those all around the world...
