Who cares if they were out on a Wednesday night, Thursday's (not always a Thursday but in most cases it is) their day off to do what they want. If they have to spend it curled up round the porcelain or sleeping in does it really matter, its their choice. What a pointless article.
I seem to be at odds with a few others on this, but if it is against team rules to have been out then they have breached the trust of the others. It isn't so much about what they were doing but the fact that they would do it.
In which case, I believe it should be a playing group matter, not an ARU matter.
Unfortunately, you are a Wallaby 24/7 during the season and need to respect all that goes with that title.
If it isn't against team rules and they didn't get shitfaced or cause any incidents then move along for sure.

I'm with you Burgs. They are paid to do a job. They owe it to their employers (the ARU) and their colleagues (teammates) to do the best possible job or, if not that, then at least not intentionally hinder their performance. If most of the people on this site were out until 1:15am (or later) it wouldn't be too good for our work the next day I would think. So why should they be above that?
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
we get weekends off, the wallabies are working on our weekends, realistically there weekend is in the middle of the week.
Yeah you are paid to be a wallaby and represent the jersey, but the characters and personalities of the players is a essential part of enjoying the game. Its not stritcly about just playing the game, i would be bored and quite annoyed if all the wallabies started to follow the same sterile mould. Its why i loved Dell so much, yeah he was royal dickhead at times but he just added that extra spice to the game.
I dont think it hindered there performance considering Lote didnt play and AAC got MOTM.
All fair and good points. You do have to be a little careful though that the license given for the extra spice doesn't blur the boundaries. Dell pushed the envelope in 2005 in South Africa and maybe thats spice but when he was snorting coke the next year he crossed the fine white line![]()

Ok fine, let them off with it this time and see what happens next time........BS.....I am assuming that the rules have been broken.
Australia's best paid Rugby Union player to behave like a schoolboy when he expects to be picked for the nations team after having previous warnings is stupid and unforgiveable It's not even like he plays like a superstar....it's about the the team and not the individual.
My view.....Warnings for Hynes and AAC and sack the guy that has many public things to say about his "MY Philosophy".
Just happy to be here
Warning to the Wallabies - LEAVE Turqiri alone. It didn't hinder the performance but what happens normally when players go out and get drunk with Lote?
They are not always in Wallaby gold but they are still Wallabies during the international season, even when they go out and about. They are employed to represent the Wallabies and Australia. It's not like they take off the jersey and they stop being the heroes of Aussie rugby. It comes with the job and they should be careful
A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

behave like schoolboys or treated like schoolboys?
These are grown men with families and they are been told what time they are supposed to be in bed, thats a crock.
Im not even sure what Lote did wrong, he gets told he isnt playing so he goes out to the casino with the boys and has some drinks. AAC and Hynes are probably more at fault here, Lote just seems to be the scapegoat.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
i never said "crock of shit".......
In the words of Phil Gould... Its in reference to the NSW State of Origin side, but has similar implications for the rugby union sides.
"They are so petrified of being in the public arena, whereas when I coached, we were in the public the whole time. We were drinking in the pubs, we were going out and coaching kids, we were taking sponsors to functions - but now they are petrified of that because of the relationship between the media and the players.
"You can't possibly be enjoying or understanding what Origin is about or forming a bond with your mates if you are living like greyhounds in a kennel."

"crock" v "crock of shit", splitting hairs there TOCC and I'm sure you are worldly enough to know the former is shorthand for the later
We'll leave Gus to his code and worry about Union, they are "grown men" who have signed off on a contract to abide by team rules. Lote considers himself a team leader and a senior player in the group yet he continues to cock up.
If he doesn't like it then either work on the code of conduct as an influential senior player or don't sign off on it.
Again, it is not about what they actually did, it was the fact they were doing it.

i just liked to be quoted accurately, i dont go quoting other people and throwing in swear words where they arent used.
You cant dismiss Gus because he is from league, but the fact remains that its a problem faced by all codes at the moment. Overexposure from the media and knee-jerk reactions from the people in charge, NRL feels the effect more because of various reasons we dont need to mention, but rugby union is quickly heading down the same road.
I just dont want to see the players turn into camera-shy sterile robots, big personalities are a major attribute to the game IMO.
So breaking it down to the base level then, do you feel they should even have a code of conduct they build and sign off on, or should they be left to their own devices to make their own judgement calls?
