Hard to say what one you were watching through the black and white haze Sparko, but what I saw was Tuqiri use his legs to drive through the tackle as you are taught to from the time you tie on a boot. If you stop the tackle at that point both would have crashed to ground in a perfect tackle. However, McCaw dropped his shoulder to try and milk the penalty and cocked it up and, in my eye, is as guilty for the result as Tuqiri was.
There was no intent and at worst was just careless and maybe worthy of two weeks. Different strokes for different blokes, the SANZAR Judicial Dart Team is still in operation
Fortunately it will have no bearing on the outcome of the 3N and God help Wales in six matches time!!!

Abridged from Rugby Heaven: The suspension means Tuqiri will miss the final Tri Nations against South Africa, the Waratahs' first three Super 14 matches (assume they mean APC?) and the first European tour match against Osprey in Swansea, Wales.
He'll be available for a Test against Wales in Cardiff on November 4.

I'll put a clip of the tackle up in a little while ...
(Edit: I merged the 2 NewsBot Tuqiri threads...)
Edit again: Anyone remember roughly what time the tackle happened?
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Burgs, He was unlikely to play the APC anyway I would have thought.. So 1 game then.
Coach, 60th maybe?
Ta - will cut after I get kids to bed...

Still goes on the resume` as five matches though mateOriginally Posted by Sagerian

No way.. Really?
All I'm saying is he'll miss 1 game he was going to be named for. Sheesh.
Five matches was way over the top, I thought two would be reasonable
Every forwards dream is to become a back...
May be "Haze" Burgs but not blind. Driving is intent. The SANZAR Judicial Panel also think so. "The tackle was dangerous and placed the tackled player in a vulnerable position," the SANZAR panel said in a statement.
Sorry, won't have this clip till later tonight ...

Sorry Burgs - but Im gonna side with Sparko on this one. Tuqiri's tackle was disgusting to watch, and the more replays I have seen of it the worse it looks. Tuqiri has a history with the SANZAR judiciary with dangerous tackles (shoulder charges) over the last couple of years and the previous games against both the Sprinkboks and the All Blacks he did (half hearted) shoulder charges again.
Granted Richie McCaw twisted in the tackle but the final result had the potential to seriously injure a player.
Tuqiri is the best League convert that has come over recently but this aspect of out have is seriously letting himself and us down.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
it just seems the australian players are lacking in general discipline. look at elsom, tiquiri and others in the matches themselves with numerous ruck infringements and dangerous tackling respectively. then look at sailor with drugs and not to mention the number of drunken incidents that have occurred in the past couple of years. namely our very own henjak being sent home as a disgrace.
they need to wake up and realise how lucky they are to be given the opportunity to represent their nation and to really take a long hard look at their individual faults and make some improvements on and off the field.
i won't go as far to suggest knuckles adopts the old Jake White iron fist approach (the rumoured nude boot camp thing a while back) but really something needs to be done.
Heads down, bums up boys!
I made Happy sad...

Still looks reckless, maybe not so much intent to drop him, but it was reckless nonetheless.
