They go a fair way back but as you would expect they are hard to come by in the commercial sense. There is alot of footage out there that is held by the tv outfits such as the BBC who have been known to come up with docos on rugby spread over decades.

Another source of old-time footage are your compilation DVDs such as The Test - 100 years of the All Blacks. These will give you an insight into the development of the game.

I bought a CD the other day and it is the soundtrack to the ABC program 'The Rise and Rise of Australian Rugby' I haven't had the chance to listen to it yet, but I watched the show when it was on. YOu can also buy a dvd of the show.

If you watch ABC2 around 11.30pm they sometimes show Rugby games. There was a 1973 league game on a couple of weeks ago.

Adding to my favourite games...The Force's tour of New Zealand this year! 2 from 2

    1. Force v Crusaders 2006 - the feeling as Sare went over the line, but just before we got robbed...
    2. Eales' last game, watched in a pub evenly split between Aussies and Kiwis...
    3. As I remember it, the second Aus v Lions match
    4. Force v Hurricanes 2007

    Good thread laura.

I'd have to say the most heartbreaking for me was the 2003 world cup final. But also loved watching the first force home win

    In no particular order,

1999 World Cup Semi v Jarpies (Larkhams drop goal)
2006 Force v Crusaders (damn you Geoff Acton)
Any last minute win over the all blacks in bledisloe games (Eales penalty in Wellington in 2000, Kefus try in Sydney in 2001)

not sure about your #2 there, but i'd have:

    1) force v canes, 2007
    2) wales v fiji, rwc 2007 (sorry badger, but it WAS a great game.)
    3) force v saders, 2006.

can't remember what year it was ( late 80s, early 90s) but my favorite try off all time was a length of the field french classic finished of by serge blanco against the all blacks. they started from behind their own goal line threw 20 odd passes and ended up behind the posts at the other end .......... a close second is the 91 rwc campese over the shoulder pass to tim horan to beat new zealand at landsdowne road ( please help if ive got the details wrong ... i was about 12 when both these happened )........... most memorable game would be force vs canes 2007 followed by the 91 rwc final. beating the poms at twickenham is allways that little bit sweeter

    .
Without doubt my greatest rugby memory so far. Last minute decision to fly over for the match, tickets bought on eBay, heaps of Kiwis around us all confident it was in the bag and we were sitting right behind the posts where Kefu dotted down. Unbelievable feeling!

Top of the page, my post has the video of both these tries. And it was Tim HOran who picked up the Campese pass for the try. Both great tries, I agree!!
