Growden is legendary in NSW rugby circles for not having a clue. If over a decade of super rugby has taught me nothing else, it's taught me to expect unexpected results. Any team can beat anybody on the day and usually do.

Growden is dead wood. It's harder to get out of sports writing than it is to get into it. Most journalists are serious academics and frown upon sport as the dumbarse caper for the profession. All the schmucks end up in sport. Decent broadsheets will ask guest writers with knowledge on the subject to write a column. Growdens dribble looks feasible to an editor focused on a story with good grammar and spelling. The editor is more worried about famine in the 3rd world, the diamond trade in Africa, the AIDS epidemic, breakthroughs in medicine, the war in Iraq, the war in the gaza strip, mounting Palestinian casualties, the global financial turmoil, terror on the airlines..................I could go on. Growdens dribble gets passed over pretty superficially........and hence the rot continues.
