really? its generally "my old gaffer" or something similar.

but anyway. i can see both sides of this argument. and i dont find either one overlly convincing.
but it doesnt matter what any of us think now. because the rule has been passed already. and i have a feeling that it will be enforced heavily, being it's first year

I completely agree with it. The show has become less about farmers displaying their argicultural achievements and more about the kids. They may as well make it healthier for kids, seeings as though they're pretty much offering them a weeks worth of sugar in one day.

I can understand that in banning smoking, its denying people access to the show but if they're that keen to go, they could always forego the cigarette for a few hours or duck out, have a smoke and then go back in. Alternatively just have designated smoking areas, it is a pretty significant issue but its not difficult to sort out.

LOL, well I think at least have smoking areas ... it's not like its an indoor event! and besides who takes kids to the royal show anyway? :p

My parents have always smoked and around me, but I haven't had any side effects... Passive smoking is a myth!

I wish the ill-effects of passive smoking was a myth...but its not. Sure some people don't have any effects which is great, but some do and this is what they're trying to target. There is a large stigma out there regarding this and a "it won't affect me" or the like attitude, which is fine but some people will be affected. I agree with the decision, but a designated smoking area or two could be given for those who would like to enjoy a puff (maybe next to the toxic fumes of the tractors haha )

I agree with the trying to educate people about the dangers of smoking and passive smoking. I agree with encouraging people to choose a healthier lifestyle.

What I disagree with is the slow but sure actions to enforce "good health" This is an example of health enforcement, not health promotion.

I heard yesterday that this, the 160th UK Royal Show is going to be the last.
Unsure as to the reason but it is sure to involve Firepower and the Force.
