What concerns me is who is recruiting O'Connor, The Australian Newspaper or the Brumbies.

i dont like the argument about "having to sign a top class fly half to keep him" by saying that, your saying that he is better off at the brumbies becasue they have the best fly half in australia.
development should begin and finish with the coaches first and foremost!

We don't need a top class fly half. We just need a fly half. Preferably one who isn't useless. Peter Grant, for example, is no superstar but he has been around a fair few years and has both S14 and Currie Cup experience.

Lachlan Mackay must have been revolting against Mitch for a very long time.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Piss off Brumbies...
There was an article last week on Foxsports saying Carter and Barnes could move west...
Yeah Mitchell
dan hopefully!!...
Thats a Naive comment, development comes from all aspects of the game...
the coach? - sure some .. but our head coach played as a forward and has limited knowledge and skills as a backs coach thats why we have a seperate skills coach and a backs coach because John knows his back line will not get the support from him that would be suitable at this level..
the players? at this level development and skills can be picked by watching and learning from other players, in fact id say thats where most development comes from..
even though we have lost Giteau, Staniforth and Mitchell they have left a legacy and their knowledge with the other players and coaches, new blood such as Grant will further increase that and give new ideas etc...
why do the force employ a backs coach and a skills coach if players will only stay if someone else stays! its a stupid argument!
my argument, although probably worded badly was that the coaching structure and club should attract people here. the reds although they arnt doing well this season have a good young side and if they can keep them together for 2 or three years may end up having a very good team. if players dont want to come to the force unless they throw money at them then i say we should sign the ones that want to be here and although we, like the reds may struggle for a year or two, i would be prouder to support them than a team of players chashing checks and watching there own interests.
look at real madrid in the soccer, they brought everyone under the sun and while they had the greatest team in history they won nothing of note, not one trophy!
did real madrid not win the spanish league in 2004-05 and 2005 - 06...?
I wouldn't live in Canberra if someone paid me $1,000,000 a season
Living in Canberra would be worse than being buried alive
Have a think about that James.
Dead set
we might be missing your point... i doubt it.. but you are surely missing ours...
what we are saying is this journalistic tripe is painting the Force as money spinning cowboys that dont have a development structure as good as the Brumbies.. we are saying they do! Giteau didnt go back to the Brumbies because their coaching structure was better he went back because he was sulking about the firepower issue and his dislike (maybe) of Mitchs people management skills. Ask Brownie, Pocock and the rest of the guys that signed on after 2009... they didnt get offered huge ammounts to stay but they did!
