    Force race to replace Inman

NICK TAYLOR, The West Australian March 11, 2011, 6:56 am

The Western Force have started the search for a back line player to replace Mitch Inman, who will move to the Melbourne Rebels next year.

And a number of big names have already been thrown into the hat.

Coach Richard Graham does not openly discuss who he might be chasing.

"At this time of year there's a lot of to and fro going with recruitment," he said.

But among the big names on the club's wish list would be:

Adam Ashley-Cooper, who has re-signed with the Australian Rugby Union but is considering a move from the Brumbies.

Rob Horne, who may want a move if Ashley-Cooper goes to the Waratahs.

Will Chambers, who has not had the best start to his second season with the Reds after moving from the Melbourne Storm.

Quade Cooper, who turned down a Force offer last year to stay with the Reds.

Kurtley Beale, who, like Cooper, is mates with James O'Connor and David Pocock.

Thats a bit of a non-article really. With possible exceptions for Chambers (form) and Horne (injuries), those players are on every team's wish list.

Inman to the sidelines now. No point playing him.

Hmmm let's see if I can do that?

Mitch Inman is off to the rebels, and nobody at the force has said anything about replacing him, so I thought I'd rack my brain and figure out who they might look for

Insert list of googled off contract midfield backs and random justifications I've pulled out my ass here

You can be sure the force will be making some of those phone calls.

Yeah sure, and I reckon they get some ideas from certain websites frequented by well informed sauces, too.

But articles like that are probably not directed at us trajics, are they? They are for the average punter. The ones the game wants to attract. We'd be bagging the crap out of the local fish wraps if they didn't give the coverage.

That's not coverage Shasta, it's the fevered imaginings of a lazy writer.

How much more effort does it take to call the organization and get a quote, even if the quote is their response to the exact lost of googled names implied in my previous rant.

I was winging about it being lazy, not about it being useless.

Anyone who moves to Melbourne is retarded. Good riddance
Make him play for Cottesloe with his dodgy arm. What happened to loyalty? The bloke was given an opportunity by the Force and was good enough to make the 13 jumper his own. What a d1ckhead. Go and live in Melborne. Don't forget your umbrella.

It's the way of professional sports these days and we'll be looking to do the same with other teams players if we can, but, I just don't see the benefit of signing and announcing it so early in the season.

Like someone else suggested maybe the ARU should introduce a trade period at the end of the season so it doesn't become an issue while the season is in progress.

Apparently the Force are chasing Lachie Turner as a replacement. I like the guy. He isn't the greatest player but he is committed.

If he did sign, and unless Nick Cummins is dismal tonight, I'd keep him as a winger.

Hmmm, ok, decent speed, definitely strong in the tackle, he could play centre or wing if cummo isn't up to standard tonight. I'd worry about him selecting a retirement plan though.

He's only 24 this year. He's an experienced winger who is fast and has a good physique. If he wanted a retirement package, he would probably head overseas. He'd undoubtedly pick up more money at the Force but he would still be value for money for us. No offence to David Smith but it would probably be wiser to hold open the marquee international spot for a new lock just in case Sharpie decides to call time. Having Turner around would probably give us the freedom to do that.
