I think Heinrich Brussow is right up there with Poey * ducks*
is he even in the Bok team ATM? I thought Meyer didn't select him?

As an all time great flanker and captain, McCaw and Pocock have nothing on Graham Maurie.
Its difficult to compare era's but Maurie was a complete player and had leadership qualities rarely seen on a rugby field. The All Blacks of the late 70's would have walked over hot coals for him.
Leicester Rutledge was a handful as well as a player but not as a captain.
Both farmers who had to work hard for what they had and earned respect by their actions.
It's a great topic - who were the best flankers of all time?
different laws entirely back then--so it is hard to compare.Maurie was a great leader though
kel Tremain,Peter Jones perhaps
In my simple and alcohol addled brain, Finlay Calder and John Jeffery were the best combination flankers ever. I had the honour of having a pint with "The Great White Shark" in NZ at the last world cup.
Still a big bloke but a wee bit thinner.
A little something about John......
Jeffrey's "day job" was his Borders farm, of which he had only one regret: "If I stand on a hill I can see England."
Just happy to be here
Is that a МиГ of some sort Bison??
No PC its a Сухой hehe, a Su-27 "Flanker" to be precise

Pocock is good and very young. hard to compare him with people who have finised their careers. When Pocock is finished, he may well be remembered as the best ever.
I would have McCaw as my 7 for Rex's "best of all time" at this stage
Mccaw is so hard on the ball. I am amazed at his mobility and he is so strong on his feet when he carries the ball or picks and goes. Mccaw has been absolutely the best in my opinion. He also has enormous humility and is very gracious in victory and defeat.
Pocock has a long way to go and it is possible he will be in Rex's "best ever" by the time he retires.
I liked Josh Kronfield too. He was 'ard. And he was everywhere. He was also a bigger hitter in defence than Mccaw and Pocock. Kronfield was a beast.
