You're right Exile. Harvey scored a lot of points for us this season. It's a shame he is just a little slow for Super Rugby. I think we should all thank him for his service. Besides, it's time we moved on now. Thats the past. We have bright future building. There's a whole new feel to the club! And I am getting excited!
A little too slow!
When his confidence was up early on he looked like a very smart player that just wasn't fast enough. Gave us everything he had, we cannot ask any more.
Don't blame him for the actions of others.
I agree, Harvey had a pretty remarkable debut, but even in that game his lack of footspeed was evident. His goal kicking was good, but my point is that he was a stand in, from club rugby, to fill a hole for a few matches. In this context his shortfalls were acceptable. But, to be offered a years extension when the shortfalls in his game were well known is puzzling...
He was a very smart player, unfortunately he was well short of pace, when that was found out (by any team that watched the tape of his debut) he ended up doing everything he could to make sure the team was going forward. That usually involved booting the ball as far downfield as he could. Unfortunately, along with a lack of speed, he wasn't blessed with a monster boot and our team wasn't full of willing chasers to turn the kicks into either field possession or attacking ball.
He tried his heart out, but wasn't up to the standard......shouldn't have been re-signed for exactly that reason.....smelt of panic that we wouldn't get 30 players to sign for us!
C'mon the
Harvey was great as a fill in player, he answered our SOS when we really needed it. Had a great debut game but was found out once other sides saw more footage of him.
Should he have been renewed? Probably not
Just not quick enough and as GIGS didn't have the biggest boot either, but he gave the Force his all and I respect that
I don't think anyone had it in for Dave Harvey. Everybody was appreciative of him coming to the club, and for his efforts. We were all asking for him to be given a shot at 10 as well, because it was clear he had the smarts.
Problem was not only his lack of speed, but a lack of a brain in Richard Graham to take advantage of Harveys (or anybody elses) gifts. There are plenty of players in all sports that don't fit the "perfect" player mold, are too slow, too old, too predictable but when used cleverly are still able to have an impact.
That said, he should not have been re-signed when he was. Before the end of the season, after the coach had departed, before a new coach was found.
Anyway, if you ever read this thanks for your contribution Dave Harvey, it is appreciated. And scoring that try against the Tahs in a win in Sydney makes you a leg end.

All useless. Great to see a clean out of backs that can't catch, pass, tackle and are slower tham my mum. Don't let the door hit you in the @rse on the way out. There are a few subbies teams that need someone to warm the pine and to make the numbers after Friday night booze-a-thons
Controversy corner
Rex this has to be the most disappointing thing you have ever written.
Now I understand that you have a Reputation for the hardcore and for you to be BadAss - but this was just crap.
I was just trying to show some former players some respect - Good, bad or indifferent they represented our club and they did the best they could with the talent they had and the coaching direction they were given.
That being said the club moves in a "different direction" and these players are unceremoniously shown the door. The least we can do is say thanks and wish them well in the future. Its the Class thing to do.
Rex please do me a favour - take a look in the dictionary and check out the words RESPECT and then check out CLASS. Then have a look in the mirror and have a good look at yourself, you can and you have done better.
