yeah... if my flight gets cancelled i'm stuffed... have to wait and see
Well, I'm the first to be impacted by the ash cloud on making the trip over to Melbourne, as the ash cloud has travelled north and my flight to Adelaide tonight has been cancelled.
Not sure if it is affecting other flights that are due into Adelaide later tonight. So just have to wait and see what arrangements they are going to make for me. They have mentioned about changes to aircraft routes to avoid the ashcloud over Adelaide airspace (in particular to Melbourne and Canberra).
The great irony in all of this will be if I end up on a flight to Melbourne to try and make my way back to Adelaide, before then heading to Melb for the trip.
Hope you guys get here, nothing like a bit of vocal banter at the Stockade.

If anyone is leaving before this arvo or anyoine based over east that can't get to , please let me know so I can get them flown over with one of the late arrivals.

Flying at lower altitude consumes more fuel
My flight with Virgin Blue if the flight were cancelled I could either wait and see if I could get a flight or take a refund as a credit with Virgin Blue for 12 months
So Virgin Blue are not losing out really as they keep my money
Would depend on the terms and conditions of other though to see what they are entitiled to
On most of the sites they have said you'll get a credit for flights if they're cancelled, even if you've got an el cheapo one.
I read a Qantas statement from this morning saying they had an 18 hour window before the ash was a problem again - hopefully it's longer so our Thursday morning flight gets there!

Coulda sworn I said that.
Seems Virgin are copping the cost to avoid the congestion. They are either flying under or around the ash. As it seems are most international carriers. Qantas, Jetstar & Tiger are not. Hopefully Virgin will still do the same if the ash moves closer to Perth by Thursday morning.
