Copy of Lou's GAGR comment....priceless, to the point and honest.
So how much was the kick back to the ARU from the Victorian Government? Do we have to wait to see the ARU Annual report or is some one going to be upfront and spell it out? The Victorian Government paid a dollar amount to the ARU - no strings attached - to keep the Melbourne Rebels . On top of that, they have paid money for the major events to be held in Victoria. What exactly is the break down of these payments? What exactly is the performance hurdles? Is it unrealistic for stakeholders of both entities to ask for a transparent statement? FFS!
Im there-carn the Force
I found it very interesting that they were originally planning not to clash with Super Rugby but the ARU and World Rugby asked them to consider the March-June window.
Just love how Twiggy has already engaged the IRB and now flipped it back on the ARU to pick a date. Not say yes or no, just pick a date. That decision has been made by the IRB. The IRB has made the ARU irrelevant in the overall IPRC decision.
Im pretty happy so far, hopefully the Force can do some exhibition matches next year during the break
So the IPRC must have secured the Force IP given what Andrew said.
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
A couple of months ago Twiggy said a few things that made me think that he's trying to make the comp like a sevens weekend. I think you've been to the HK sevens, haven't you? I've never managed that, but I'm excited about the thought of having something like that in Perth on a regular basis. Even my wife would consider coming along, and she's never been to a Force match....(mind you, I'm still not sure I want her there to limit my beer consumption...).
For sheer fun factor the Hong Kong Sevens is on a different level to any other sporting event I've been to (including the Sydney 7s) but importantly they also make sure there is strong community rugby involvement in the lead up to and during the event. If the IPRC can manage something like that - glamourising the sport on one hand while maintaining its traditions on the other - I'll be happy (and I'm also hoping there will be a Hong Kong team).
I am feeling a lot more positive about this competition than I was before the press conference.
Very kind of the ARU to put up a 28 minute pitch on their 'website'

All we need now is free to air games a Force airbus to fly us round and we are set.
