How good it was to see the WF scoring tries and creating opportunities for more against quality opposition.
Thanks for the near-80 minute effort lads.
So no-one's going to mention the Force being robbed of a win?
~3 minutes before half time, 14-17 down, and we had a penalty advantage being played when Kyle rolled the Crusader away in the clean-out. As it was only a penalty, not a yellow card offense, we should have gone back to the Force advantage and a kick to the corner from ~half-way, rather than a penalty to the Crusaders from which they got the try to lead 24-14 at half-time.
Then in the 2nd half we had another penalty advantage from which we threw the ball left to Olowafela who scored, only for the AR to call it back as a forward pass. The ref immediately went back to the penalty advantage, which we subsequently mucked up, but when you saw the pass on replay it was never forward (something the NZ commentators agreed with). Why didn't the ref review the try before deciding to go back to the penalty advantage?
We only lost by 8, so if either of those had not been called incorrectly we'd have got a bonus point; if both had been called that's at least a 14 point swing there, possibly more if we'd scored from the penalty before half-time, and there would be 3 wins to Australian sides.

I don't know if there were other camera angles not shown, but what we saw is inclusive so I'd take the AR call on Kahui's pass as best evidence available. Godwin was called for a neck roll IIRC. Foul play; looked pretty innocuous but sir didn't see it that way.

No, I don't know if there were other angles of Kahui's pass, but you'd think the Ref would go to the TMO to check rather than just going back for the penalty advantage; that's what I've seen happen in other instances. And I think the AR might have been deceived into getting the call wrong because Kahui was hit as he threw the pass, so he ended up 2-3m behind where he threw the ball from. The pass itself looked pretty flat (and not "NZ flat"!) as both Kahui and Olowafela were ~2m behind the 5m line when the pass was thrown and caught.
For Godwin's neck roll, the ref watched the replay and decided it was worthy of a penalty, but not a yellow card. Therefore, he shouldn't have over-ruled his previous penalty advantage (even if it was only for offside, I think) as one penalty isn't 'worse' than another. And I don't think he'd called advantage over, because I heard him state "New advantage" at the next ruck when the Crusaders were again offside. New advantage means that the previous advantage was still active, but a different penalty has come into play.

Maybe one of our resident "sirs" may clear this up, but I always thought dangerous play takes precedence over other penalty infringements.
The neck roll was before our advantage wasn't it, I definitely remember the ref asking if the neck roll was before the Force advantage.
As for the forward pass I might go with the AR who was 8 metres away from it rather than watching on TV 6000km away.
Just had a look (how good is streaming) - first advantage for offside comes immediately after the neck roll so the Ref correctly went back to the first infringement.
Start at 38:00 for anyone else wanting to have a look.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
