It would be worth noting that ABC2 also come through Fox but is on EST so 2 hours in front of WST.
Example on Sunday
Aces v Tornadoes was on at 2.00pm on ABC2 FOX and at 4.00pm on ABC2 vis a digital set top box.

Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
Good coverage of the games but some of the commentary sucked.
I had difficulty hearing some of the commentary of the Vikings v Rebels game. Was it the very loud ground annoucements or is it time for a hearing aid! BTW why wasn't Matt Giteau at "home' here in Perth like Sharpie and Stanners?
Think he said the next Wallaby commitment was in Sydney so I imagine (as he is single ie no wifey to go back to Perth for) he was using the time to catch up with his family?
Crap attempt at a goaty though![]()

Yep home to the family home in Jerra (Jerrabomberra to others) for the week before heading to Sydney for a bit.Originally Posted by Burgs

But yeah he is very close to his family, much banter between father and son of league vs union of course... though Ron himself even played lower grade union not long ago. Matt's older brother Justin switched from league to union this season too, and has done quite by all accounts.

Could end by tomorrow
Agree with Seldom about commentary.
Thought the Aces v Tornadoes game was great - but Elton should stick to being a retired rugby player - his commentary was less than good (trying for constructive criticism!) How many times can you say "it was a game of two halves" in one sentence in after game comments? Yes we know that Elton, it's rugby - two halves are played!
At least Canno can string coherant and pretty relevant sentences together when he commentates!
Turns out she is from Dowerin which is about 300kms North East of Perth, in the Northern Wheatbelt.Originally Posted by Evie

Talk about sporting "hybrid vigour"!
If they do end up together long term, throw some International Rugby League and Union genetics into the mix...
It's not surprising that Bianca excels in sport - her father represented country Victoria in hockey, one sister is a State country runner, another also plays netball, and her brother is a possibility for next year's AFL draft.
I'm guessing the brother is Lance "Buddy" Franklin, Hawthorn star who was recruited in 5th 2004 as the article suggests.

The commentary was a little annoying, but my main complaint about the coverage was that it was ABC2 - it may be technically free-to-air, but I'd bet that most folk access it through Foxtel anyway. The real anyone-can-see-it ABC showed the WAFL instead, which I don't have a problem with per se but it does not spread the rugby word (which was, after all, the point of having it on FTA TV)
I agree Andy.
Even a delay til straight after the WAFL would be preferable to having the first broadcast straight to ABC2.
There is no serious competition for the Sunday arvo slot to be live either.

I don't have foxtel but I bought my $50 set top box for the coverage. Aces and ballymore game was ok. I'm sure they'll get better as the season goes on
