This is a huge signing
I reckon both White and JOC are excellent signings for the Force.
My biggest concern is how long they will stay.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
When any of this shit turns up at the roar it's always good to check the author, because about 80% of it is baseless bullshit speculation by some uninformed wanker.
This is Christy Doran, who is a longtime reporter with some access to the halls of power so it's likely bullshit speculation by an informed wanker with some base in truth.
I'll still wait for an actual announcement before worrying too much about it.
It will be really interesting to see if the magic of a Force jersey can turn White from being an annoying, cynical pain in the arse into a genuinely good bloke.
It worked for Matt Dunning and Tom Robertson, worked in reverse for Digby, so this will really test the science.
C'mon the
Yes, I agree, that's why I was sure to include link as the source. I don't usually read the roar at all, but this popped up on my google suggestions.
I rate Nick and have wondered with Lonergan's rise how both could or should be in the same team.
Dan McKellar also commented on Nick being some one who could be a good coach someday. So hopefully if true, that is all part of the package
The rumour about him leaving has been around for a coupe of weeks now citing "salary cap pressure", that's shorthand for he wants a lot of money and he's not a Waratah, so they have to move him on.
One of the big things I picked up in the article was the suggestion that the Force can afford to pay him more. Now I don't dispute that our salary cap would be under less pressure than the Brumbies, but I do think, that if Tony Lewis and Hodgo read these pages I'd ask them DO NOT PAY NIC WHITE MORE THAN YOU WOULD PAY GARETH SIMPSON. If the shortfall isn't made up by the Wallabies, then he can go play for the Tahs (because where else has the political favouritism to ignore the salary cap by so much)
C'mon the
Totally agree, I do not want a marquee signing paying overs at the expense of the team
On the salary cap we are all under the same amount, the difference between us and what the other teams can afford is the Wallaby top ups, out of our hands and not paid by us.
Unlikely there is a substantial amount within the cap to allocate to one player.
I think the cap is $4,8m , bearing in mind we have the least top ups likely we are close if not at the limit. Thats an average of roughly $137K per player for a squad of 35.
Other benefits we could offer:
* Better weather than Canberra
* Better beaches than Canberra
* Less politicians than Canberra ......
Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”
I think that the likability or hate-ability of a Rugby player is wholly and solely dependent on the color of his jersey.
I believe that we will like him just fine when he turns Blue.

Weeelllll....depends on what happens with his kicking. He more than anyone is a serial offender for slow, telegraphed and poor box kicking that doesn't achieve much. Hopefully he sorts it, or the Force finds some way to turn crap into coal, but he has been at it a long time and it is still very average.
