I agree with Canno on picking Cooper before Beale tho. Beale doesn't deserve to play for the Wallabies. Don't think Cooper had a great game but he does play better when Genia is playing.

Yeah I kind of agree, but also agree with Gigsy about him being a one tricked pony. I thought he controlled the game well, threw some sublime passes & a few deft kicks. He is a very skilled player. He does stuff with the ball that no-one else can.The only criticism I would have of him from last nights game and in general is his inability to switch game plans, going from an expansive game plan to a tight controlled one, kicking for territory and keeping the opposition in their half. It's almost like he's oblivious to the score. The Reds could have won last night, but it was wet and QC was pushing passes in his own half when perhaps he should have booted it. He looked like he was trying too hard to impress Deans. He has to be in the squad though. There is no-one that can really match his ability to pick up guys out wide with huge accurate cut out passes.
The poms seem to rate him

COOPER MUST START FOR AUSTRALIA
He may be a difficult personality, and he may have fallen out with the coach spectacularly last year, but Quade Cooper is the personification of Australian rugby at its best - fast, unpredictable, adventurous, ambitious, deadly and capable of self-combustion. He was brilliant, orchestrating the pace and tempo of the match before the weather slowed him down a little. Warren Gatland will not want him in the Wallaby team and that is reason alone to pick him. His partnership with Will Genia might be the only thing that can stop this monster-truck of a Lions back line.

10. Quade Cooper – 8/10 – There must be something wrong with his attitude, because on this performance, it’s hard to think of a more creative fly-half in Australia that Robbie Deans could pick. His passing was sublime; he looked to attack from all over the park with quick line-outs, tap penalties and short 22m drop-outs, and yet Deans hasn’t even named him in the squad. Why?
That is a very good summation of Quade's game last night. It might be worth remembering that individual opinion will be influenced by how much risk we are comfortable with. I don't like risk that much, and as such can't stand the rollercoaster ride that Quade plays.
Also worth remembering that the Lions could of easily had 3 or 4 more tries with a little bit of luck going their way and Morahans try did not involve Quade at all.
he avoided taking the ball into contact, and rushed kicks to avoid being tackled.
his passes put a lot of players under pressure, and resulted in several turnovers.
not one of his better games.
however he deserves his spot more than Beale - mainly because he's put in the effort all season, and we dont really have anyone else
I reckon quadrant might be good to use at fullback. his x factor is unquestioned, but he doesn't appear to be a smart footballer.
find somebody with good field vision who can limit his time with the ball to only those times when it's warranted and we might be on to something

however, if the poms want him it must be because they think they can pressure him into mistakes

I think he's very switched on, but he plays, at times, high risk football, which can make him a look like a legend when it comes off or a complete tool if it doesn't. In last nights game there were a few occasions when the Reds had a lineout on their own try line & instead of booting it out & giving the Lions a lineout in the Reds 22, they ran it from their try line, making a good 30m before kicking it. Intelligent footy, but risky.
at least Beagle can put the mongrel in the team and have a fight on the bus preparing for the test..
WHAT A JOKE. Giving praise to someone who farks up... well done DEANS.
and make cups of tea for the boys after the match
Kurtley Beale's re-emergence as a five-eighth option has ended Quade Cooper's chances of playing for the Wallabies against the British and Irish Lions.
Wallabies coach Robbie Deans confirmed Beale would be one of six players added to the squad when it is named on Monday - but Cooper will not be joining him in the team's new camp in*Caloundra.
Cooper had been given one last chance to press his claims for a Test squad berth in Queensland's clash with the Lions on Saturday night but despite a spirited performance, it clearly wasn't enough.
Asked if he'd seen anything in the Reds game to change his mind on selection, Deans said: "No. We have now settled on the squad and we get on with our opportunity."
Beale, who trained with the squad last week, will be officially added as a squad member and appears set to be*in the frame for the Wallabies no.10 jersey, which he wore in Australia's final Test against Wales last year.
It is understood Beale ran in two positions at training: fullback and five-eighth.
Beale appears to have been given the green light from his counselling program to return to full-time Wallabies environment.
"He has got a good background with us and he presented well when he was with us last week," Deans said on Beale.

I haven't been the biggest fan of Quade, but Beale in there ahead of him? This is unbelievable.
Japan and the Pacific Islands for Aussie Super 9's!
Let's have one of these in WA! Click this link: Saitama Super Arena - New Perth Stadium?
So 5 players outside the 25 man group turned up at practise yesterday. Could that mean that the 1 player missing is a Force player cause he was playing yesterday? Surely it must be HMM!

Quade is a pawn in the McKenzie versus Deans saga - and I'm with Deans on this one.
Not that I think the Wallabies couldn't try a more creative game occasionally, but Quade avoids the contact, throws hospital passes that get his team mates smashed, takes unnecessary risks at the wrong times, and can't kick that well.
I just watched a replay of an old Wales vs Wallabies test from a couple of years ago - Beale just carved them up that day. Now there was creativity going forward, taking the defensive line on.
