i think barnes has matured a lot since the rwc... hes better at 12 than 10. he has been MUCH MUCH MUCH better than mortlock. put crossy on in 13 and shaprie can be captian. now THATS rotation

You're kidding right? Barnes has been receiving wide acclaim for his performances - and rightly so.

Barnes has been good...but...how many tries has he scored? How many try assists does he have? How many times has he made a big line break and put someone over with the last pass?

He's done some good work, but so has Shepherd. So if people are claiming that Shepherd has been unspectacular and that is the reason he is being rotated out, then the same could be said for Barnes.

As for Cross, I'm impressed that you can assess his talent as a Wallaby based upon three minutes of action where he didn't get passed the ball once!

well to be honest i didnt really want to bother trying to explain it, i thougt the answer was rather obvious, and supported by the fact that deans did sack shepherd and not barnes.

He didn't sack him he benched him...I dont doubt for a minute that Deans is doing this to try out combinations, he knows that when Sheps etc played they could beat France so IMHO he is seeing how other blokes will go at the job and testing the diversity of his team.

No the answer isn't obvious.

Basically what I am hearing (not necessarily Deans' opinion though) is that Shepherd is being sub'd out because he was "unspectacular." And all I am asking is what has Barnes done that has been so "spectacular" that he warrants staying in the lineup?

Not trying to be funny. I think both players, Barnes and Shepherd did their jobs, but neither were "spectacular."

And he also favours a Dunning and Baxter front row. So go figure if he isn't exactly the second coming when it comes to selections at this early stage.
