80 Minutes, 15 Positions, No Protection, Wanna Ruck?
Ruck Me, Maul Me, Make Me Scrum!
Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
1 Pek (should be a Wallaby)
2 Cheesy (breakout year coming up)
3 Manu (future Wallaby)
4 Lynn (needs to make more of an impact around the ground, his cleanouts and ball running are non existent)
5 McCalman (allows us to play 4 loosies and makes us more mobile)
6 Brownie (though needs to rediscover some mongrel)
7 Alcock (specialist fetcher)
8 Hodgson (captain)
9 Alby (marquee madness)
10 Ebersohn (not convinced but deserves first crack)
11 Tupou (will be better for this years experience)
12 The Muss (crash and bash type)
13 Dellitt (needs to remain on the park, great defence, good going forward)
14 Badger (picks himself)
15 Mafi (ditto)
16 Whittaker/New recruit
17 K bomb
18 Wykes
19 Cottrel
20 Sheehan
21 Godwin
22 Rasolea
Backline will definitely have some size about it.
There are 3 types of people in this world, those that can count and those that can't
Bit harsh on Phoenix Battye NTT, I thought similar things about him as I did about Cotterell. For me, the backrow should be overstocked with Hodgson, brown, McCalman and Alcock being the main mix, but Angus Cotterell will be right up their dates and none of them would want to get injured. I can't imagine a better fetcher in this set up than Hodgson. So he should get the seven. I'd put brown in 8 and see how he goes, to be replaced by McCalman (who I'd start at 6) if he doesn't cope. Give Brown and Hodgson a roving role, any breakdown they think they can get to they should go for the ball.
Alcock as injury cover and the fresh openside late in the game
C'mon the
Keep seeing Dellitts name being mentioned. Can't remember seeing him do 1 thing with ball in hand.Granted he's a great defender but if we are aiming at the semis the side needs more from their centre. Can remember seeing Sidey score 2-3 tries and he's gone-but Dellitt-nothing.Can someone help me with a specific instance because I feel I am missing something somewhere. It was the same with Inman.I can only remember him making 1 break and setting up a try and that was in his last game for us against the Rebels.
Short memory Taylor,
Paddy Dellit was a rock star here in 2011 scored a few meat pies, had an agressive running style and chased kicks like a terrier.
I'm not sure whether this year was second season syndrome or Richard Graham Dropsy.
C'mon the
I don't disagree at all, except maybe the 13 spot. I'd like to see the Badger at 13. In his few games there, he was a handful. He seemed to always get get over the gainline in attack, and did fairly well defensively. If memory serves, any deficiencies in defense were more a result of a lack of game time at 13 and it's defensive responsibilities than being a poor defender (I'm working from a hazy memory here). Anyway, he's a guy who needs to get his hands on the ball more.
Also, no room for Norton-Knight in the 22? Not saying he should be in there, but that would be a wasted signing if he's not even in the park. Personally, I'd rather see Godwin get the bench spot and the minutes, than give it to a journeyman.
Was suprised to read that Dellit had scored a few tries so I looked up wikipedia.According to them he has 17 caps and 0 points.Apparently my short memory also lacks imagination.I would expect the very least from a professional rugby back is to chase the ball enthusiasically and to run aggressively so I still don't think he has filled the criteria to be first choice centre.
Dellit is a great bench option because he can cover quite a few positions. Him and Kyle Godwin on the bench could cover every position pretty comfortably.
Will Tupou should be our starting 13.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
