Like Burgs, I told Spiro of his screw up and got the same reply that we should join up to his sons website. Had a quick look...........seemed OK........but then logged back onto thewholeforce.com........where the real action is!

This is a concern and Force supporters really deserve better than this. The internet lives and dies on its immediacy and the game reports should be up there minutes after the match. The ARU changed their internet admin this year and that has added to the problem. I'll see what I can do to get it sorted.

The date would be correct from when the Sportal sotry was filed, not from when it was uploaded onto the Rugby WA web site.

Contract aside Rick, surely they (RWA) need to be writing the Force related content in the future?
Some of the reporting on quite close matches last year was terribly biased against the Force.
It can't be that hard for one of the media fellas to knock up a media release?

HAHA, dunno about that mate, I just get peeved when we keep getting old news and regurgitated Eastern copy.
In my mind, in this age of the internet and having everyone else’s opinions at your fingertips, the local media should be using their advantage to get the best quotes from the boys and Mitch and doing some DECENT analysis, really focusing on our own team because sure as hell no one else wants to!

    But I'm open to offers

I agree with you there. On my feedback to RWA last year I let them know that I thought their website needed a bit more attention. Quotes and thoughts from the Coaching staff and players would make us feel more of the culture of the side and have a better feel for where the team felt it was at.

The interactive zone of RWA looked like it might be filling that gap, but seems to have petered......

AFL coaches get a mini-speech on the news almost each and every night during their season. We're lucky if we get an interview on the local news once a fortnight.

Well, yes and no. There are two roles here.

Firstly, the Force media team are paid to promote the Force and I know personally just how busy Tom and Crispi are across a wide spectrum of PR and promotional duties, so it's not like they're sitting around looking for things to do. They do a lot of media releases on day to day developments.

Secondly, it should be understood that the Force media team are not neutral observers. It's their job to provide information and promote the Force positively, not give objective and even critical (when necessary) opinion. That's the job of sports journalists.

But I do think Rugby WA need to look at their media commitments on the internet and the whole way the internet can operate for them. There is so much more that could be done. Of course, someone also has to pay for it.

I'm a big fan of the internet and I firmly believe that the internet is the medium of the future. I also believe the future of the media in general will inevitably change away from the traditional static distributors of news (newspapers, radio TV) on the one side and the public as consumers of the news on the other side.

The future will see a lot more interactivity where people won't just consume news but help to create it, prioritise it, stream it, evaluate it and give feedback on it. A small step in the right direction is Foxtel's interactive movies and programs on demand. The people decide what they want to watch and when, not the broadcasters shovelling out whatever old tosh they want. And see how popular public blogs have become on some news sistes.

Forums like this show that people don't want to be just inert consumers of product. They want to participate. Broadcasters and publishers that are awake to this will dominate the market and make money. Those that aren't will be sidelined as consumers dictate less formal means of information sharing. Power to the people!
