Keeping in mind that the offer was for three years & his contract has 1 year remaining. I'd be inclined to think that he didn't want to stay the extra 2 but is happy to see out his contract til the end of '09.
Since he rejected that offer he was offered 9.6 million to go to France though...
I don't know Giteau - never met the man. Nothing he's been directly quoted as saying leads me to think too badly of him. His manager's actions seem consistent with someone trying to get the best deal for the person he represents, and that's always bound to upset someone somewhere.
The rest of it - the media hype, the constant speculation and hyperbole, the hand-flapping excitable press, the sound and fury - signifies nothing to me. The situation doesn't look good for anyone, but unfortunately the world is an imperfect place.
If the end result of what's actually happening - not what some people speculate is happening - is that one of the world's best players is denied opportunities to offer his best, well, that would be a sad thing indeed.
I just want this all sorted out so I can go back to reading the usual rubbish in the sports pages, not this rubbish.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal:
it is the courage to continue that counts.
