Some commentators... some journos.... some fans.... sorry, TOCC, I didn't take names and numbers
I just never rated him that highly. He had his fans, and that's fine, but he kept getting selected while not really making too much of an impact. That was not fine.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal:
it is the courage to continue that counts.

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

The 30 man tri-nations squad is due to be announced tomorrow - did the announcement make selection easier for the squad?
Considerably I would imagine Ox!

A Costa Lote performance appraisal
1. Can't kick off either foot
2. Slower than my mum
3. Consistently runs sideways......often makes 30-40m sideways
4. Doesn't understand support play
5. Doesn't understand counterattacking play
6. Often missing from his wing when there is an opportunity as he has gone infield
7. Poor team man. Only considers himself
8. Has been keeping talented wingers out of NSW and the national teams for a few years too many
9. Smokin' Joe Roco---- biatch
10. Mungoballer riding the gravy train. Good riddance
I can't stand wingers that don't understand positional play, are slow and can't kick off both feet. Dingo Deans has stopped the rot. Halleluja
I'm no supporter of Lote but the way he was sacked, apparentley by email is totally unproffesional.
It will also cause much ill feeling between the player group and management. As a business owner and employer I can staTE THIS IS NEVER GOOD FOR LONGTERM SUCCESS, sorry hit caps lock.
They would have been much better off allowing him to retire(forced) gracefully and allow him to persue a NH/Jap gig
If this is what happened it sounds like the same old crap that happens at the warratahs.
Apart from all of that, which I find hard to disagree with.....the facts are:
He's on a final warning and still decides to go out on the town, breaking the team rules, while part of the squad.
It was commented tonight that I was being harsh, implying that I go out and play whenever I like. I reminded that person I was not being payed to be a professional sports person representing my country AND on the biggest pay deal in my sport. BTW, even though he was not part of the team playing last Saturday he is still required to be on standby in case of injury...think of that!
Didn't really have much respect for him before this but with his reported legal stance he loses all cred.....Andy is right....he should move on as he still has a future. He f'cked up and should admit it! Although based on past performance I suspect his ego will not allow this.
Just happy to be here
Maybe a little harsh there TEF, I reckon there's an ironclad reason why his contract has been torn up....JON's smart enough to manufacture one if one doesn't exist.....but seriously, he'd have to have done more than get on the pi$$ to lose his contract, remember Henjak still had a contract after getting sent home from SA....
I suspect the ARU have realised that Deans doesn't want or need Lote (and given the win loss ratio so far, why would they question it?) and are looking to free up some spare cash. Lote's problem will be the last warning letter he was sent, that gives any employer who wants you out a trigger to pull. All they need to do is prove that he broke the terms of that letter and his lawyer will have a shit of a time arguing the case.
The other possibility is this is strike one in the war to terminate his contract without paying him the full amount to sit on the sidelines in a suit......look carefully for an out of court settlement!
C'mon the
Just watched the press conference where JO'N and Robbie Deans announced the Wallabies squad for the Tri-Nations and Lote Tuqiri was discussed, apart from the ARU still not giving a reason for Lote's dismissal, apparently it was discussed with the NSWRU before it was done
IF your theory of an opportunistic move to free up cash is proved in the end, only justified by a 2yo warning, it may be a costly one. There would need to be a substantial breach in this instance.
Should the ARU come to look a cynical employer, the managers of key players they wish to secure in future will insist on clauses that make it difficult to terminate. Retired Rucker's comment is very pertinent in a situation where the employees have many options.
The timing is interesting if the ARU, as some are saying, has been sitting on it for a time. Announcement made one day after registrations closed for the NRL.

Excuse my ignorance, and this possibly being a silly question.
Is Lote still employed by the NSW Rugby Union to play?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
Apparently not for the Waratahs, unsure about Wests.
