Lets not start feeling sorry for Quade just because Beale got picked.

Neither of them deserve a spot after what they did.

Wallabies reject Quade Cooper's bad day ends with pub incident

THE frustration and disappointment of a season that has left Quade Cooper's future with the Wallabies in serious doubt spilled over yesterday when the enigmatic Reds star was ejected from a popular Brisbane pub before having to be dragged away from a clash with hecklers.
On the same day Wallabies coach Robbie Deans confirmed Cooper was not part of the Test squad for the Lions series, the five-eighth drowned his sorrows at the Normanby Hotel in Brisbane's inner-north with other Reds players.

Witnesses said Cooper was heavily intoxicated and after leaving the premises to meet a friend, was refused re-entry.

A group of patrons targeted Cooper with insults before pelting him with a full cup of beer.

"I couldn't believe the way they just spotted him and some of the things they were saying and calling him - I have never seen anything like it," a witness said.

"Quade was drunk but he and his mates were heading towards a car until the beer got thrown. When that happened Quade turned back and charged at the blokes responsible. He invited them to come outside and settle the matter but eventually his friends dragged him off and they got in a car and left."

The incident provided an ugly end to a disappointing day for Cooper. Although Deans hinted Cooper could play a part in this month's three-Test series should injury strike key players, he was not called into the camp following Saturday's Reds-Lions game.

"This is a three-Test campaign and nothing surprises you in this industry. Quade is a huge talent; we understand what he is capable of. We've now settled on the squad and we'll get on with our opportunity," Deans said.

Cooper was at the heart of the Reds' attack, showing glimpses of his best as the tourists struggled to a 22-12 win.

While Cooper remains on the outer the troubled Kurtley Beale is officially back in the Wallabies' fold. Deans yesterday said Beale had "presented himself in the right physical and mental shape" after a rehabilitation program to address problems with alcohol.

Beale has played only one grade game in the past three months after being sent home from the Melbourne Rebels' tour of South Africa following a punch-up with teammates.

Beale was one of six non-squad players who travelled to the Sunshine Coast with the Wallabies yesterday. The other players were winger Digby Ioane, inside centre Pat McCabe, halfback Luke Burgess, hooker James Hanson, prop Scott Sio and back-five forward Peter Kimlin.

Deans was really only looking for five extra players as Ioane remained in camp with the Wallabies in Sydney last week after officially dropping out because of a knee injury, which prevented him from training.

Halfback Nic White was about to be included in the squad until he sustained a shoulder injury in the Brumbies' win over the Rebels last Friday night.

With White sidelined for four weeks, Burgess is poised to make a comeback to the Wallabies.

Burgess has just returned to Australia after a two-year stint with French club Toulouse.

He is now almost certain to provide the Wallabies with a third halfback along with Will Genia and Nick Phipps.

McCabe, who has been restricted by neck and hamstring injuries this year, has been the Wallabies' first-choice inside centre for the past two years and Deans highly values his hard, straight running and strong defence.

Brumbies tighthead prop Dan Palmer probably would have been added to the squad, but he aggravated a troublesome foot injury in Friday's game and he appears to have lost his spot to Brumbies teammate Sio.

There are already four props in the Wallabies squad so the fifth may not play against the Lions, but Sio is regarded as a Test player of the future.

Kimlin, who played two Tests against Italy in 2009, has re-established himself as one of Australia's leading back-five forwards and he enhanced his chances with a superb display for the Brumbies against the Rebels.

An abrasive forward, Kimlin can play second row, blindside flanker and number eight.

Whether Kimlin makes the final six could depend on the form and fitness of Western Force back five forward Hugh McMeniman, who made a comeback from injury against the NSW Waratahs in Perth yesterday.

    The mediocrity continues,

Pat McCabe can't crack a club game, but is picked for the Wallabies?
Kurtley Beale drives from rehab to Wallabies training while Quade is playing for his chance to secure a spot, does anybody else here think the decision was already made?

    Deans is shit

Yes, absolutely it was already made. Would Pulver have gone to watch him in Shute Shield otherwise?

Same deal for QC - reckon Deans had decided before the S15 season had even begun that QC would not be in the Wallaby squad for the Lions.

The messages I got from someone at the pub the other night paint a different story to that article above. If I was quadrangle I'd have done more than tell him to piss off

Solid performances by McCabe on the Brumbies bench sealed the deal.
