I don't see myself as an outsider
But sometimes I wonder why the population gets up in arms

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
I would have thought that within this thread I have tried to acknowledge the existence of a "seige mentality", tried to explain how I percieve the dynamic from WA's perspective, and tried explain how I percieve the dynamic from the East Coast's perspective.
I don't think that this is justification. In psycological terms it would be described as a schema.
You should try dealing with Territorians.
The be regarded as a local involves set years of residency and inclusions in rituals involving cyclones, rivers, large beverage containers and other secret stuff.
They mistrust ANYONE who looks like they have worn a tie or a suit in the last decade.
I would have thought you would get on with your life instead of worrying about Sydney/Melbourne showboating.
Every city has it's charms (haven't been to Adelaide, or Melbourne for longer then Hour) and every city has it's problems as well
When we were on the InnFORCErs tour last year I had a conversation with Elf (if the old boy remembers) and we agreed that if the City of Perth wanted to see how a city is run to go to Brisbane not Sydney or Melbourne. Having made my earlier point I'm sure that Perth could take something from Sydney and Melbourne as well, but I'm sure they could learn stuff off Perth as well
I'm all for Constructive Criticism, but saying Perth is crap just for the sake of it doesn't fly with me
Do they wear suits at weddings? Becasue that was the only time I have worn one. Tropical Cyclones are fun (TC Rachel hit Port Hedland on my birthday in 1997)

WA has a siege mentality that goes way beyond theAny realisaiton of that with regard to the Force is the existing parochialism amped up with the tribalism inherent in any sporting team and it's supporters.
Next time anyone wants to go someone for suggesting that there is room for improvement in WA remember- if it were perfect, we'd have a rugby stadium by now!
Build a stadium and all of the problems will just drift away.
