lucky Swee Garath Hardy is nearly clever enough for you
61 years between Grand SlamsWas the wait worth it - Ya betta baby
Nedlands would probably be closest to you, and they are certainly the most successful club in Western Australia in the last couple of decades. They are a very well organised club with a great social tradition, and one of the most attractive home grounds in in Perth -- although they suffer from the restrictive control of their local council who won't let them build a proper clubrooms, owing probably to the numer of rich tossers who inhabit ostentatious mansions along the river front and who must be absolutely livid seeing decent rugby blokes and blokesses out enjoying themselves of a Saturday arvo, spoiling their view while they sip their pink gins on their balconies.
Failing that, Palmyra are just down the road in the equally attractive Tompkins Park ground and with a Rolls Royce clubrooms to boot. They are currently in a bit of form trough but with characters like Fulvio "Frank" Sammut and genuine 24-carat legends like Gary "I played first grade at 50 years of age" Mickle, how could you go wrong?
we have a second grade player that travels from Rockingham twice a week for training and every Saturday for games
Big ups to anybody involved in club rugbyI have been a club member for 42 years now, different clubs, different towns and cities but a great way to be part of a community. Christchurch has shitty winters and I don't what I would do without footy.
Saturday mornings are still water-bottles, sorting the strip, checking first aid, ringing the no shows (from training), two or three nervous dumps, team sheet, down to club to cheer on the juniors (normally accompanied by 4 or 5 senior players) and something easy to digest.
Saturday arvo is all footy, some trash talk in the changing sheds, speechs, man talk with the oppersiton (post mortums), a shared scoff, some bar work, settle down for TV footy,..........brilliant. Win lose or draw I'd be a mere shell without it. I still get stripped if we only have 21 and go on for the last ten if the game is already won or lost, nothing like getting your knees dirty to feel like a hard arse young man again (as a #6 I am fairly good at hiding!).
Sunday is (every 3 weeks) Golden Oldies with a hangover.
Club rugby is always looking for folk to help out, very often they only have to be asked.
Get into it, you'll wonder why you left it so long.
Couldn't agree more Rick. At the end of the day it is mano e mano (or whatever the saying is).
I have had the privilige of playing with and against some great footballers and everybody always expected that when they turned out for their clubs that they would be stars. I remember (some years ago) when Jock Hobbs was the All Black captain, he came back and played for the club after an International (his only club game that year). Huge crowd turned up, 3 Canterbury players on show and 2 ABs. He was good, very good, but no way the best. We won, just, and it was probably his presence rather than what he did that got us through. We all wanted to show that we were up to,........most were.
My boys won 22-20 enjoyed good game, good company. the club got the closest it could to a clean sweep. 18 teams, 17 wins (one loss) but we did have the 2 under 11 teams playing each other!
Watched the ABs and the Aussies win, watching Warriors get knocked about a bit. great day.
Baysies Prems and Seconds won !!!! Cottesloe tried hard but just could not stop the black machines from winning

So did anyone make it to this game on the weekend?
Brownie got yellow carded! Not a good way to go about impressing Aussie Rob! Very late in the game too and very unwise. Got a good swing in I hear.
