Born in Rotorua (middle on the Nth Island, NZ) rugby in the bloody with the old man having a All Black trial at one stage. Started playing a 6, school boy rugby played at Wanganui Boys College and for Kaurau Club. Changed to B/ball in 3rd Form (year8) and never looked back. Now look after the WFSS. Rugby in the blood always!!!!!!

Is it compulsury that all natural born Kiwis have an AllBlack trial? A bit like every Italian becoming President of his country at least once in his lifetime?

It's just that I've met so many AllBlack trialists around the traps....

I meet 100's in the last two weeks, but we did also meet the Legend that is BJ Williams, the first Islander to play for the All Blacks.

Just on this does anyone know if a Alan Baker played for the All Blacks or Maori All Blacks, also played for Waikato....met him as well.

born in Wellington, came to Perth in 1977 after being continually being left out the AllBlack trials, for which I have never forgiven the NZRFU
total lack of ability was no excuse,I had contacts & had it been South Africa,I would have been a shoe-in
managed to play for 16 or 17 years for Nedlands, sliding down the grades until there were no further grades to descend
After my unfortunate NZ upbringing am now a passionate Wallaby (& Force) supporter

Born and bred in bonnie Scotland. Played rugby at school and for a while as a young man then moved on to other things. My first live international match was in 1984 when Scotland won the Grand Slam against France....one of the top ten moments of my life. Have only played touch Australia.

You can always drop back to the bench with Bunj and suck on some Johhnie walker to kill the pain.
And give the best wishes to the lad
