just read this on the foxsprts website, doesnt really indictae anything concrete but i thought it was worth posting

    White for Wales?

October 23, 2007 SOUTH Africa's World Cup winning coach Jake White looks set to snub the possibility of taking control of the Wallabies.

White has hinted since the win in Paris that the vacant Welsh job is of potentially more interest to him.

Despite having just won the World Cup in France, White failed to reapply for his Springbok job before Friday's deadline and does not expect to be asked to carry on.

"Wales asked me: 'Do you want to continue coaching international rugby?' I said 'yes', they then asked me: 'Would you consider coaching a country like Wales?' Once again, I said 'yes'." The 43 year old said.

White had been the focus of speculation that he could be set to replace outgoing Aussie coach John Connolly, while some rumours had linked him with the New Zealand coaching job, if Graham Henry decides to call time on his spell at the helm of the All Blacks.

ARU should call the NZRFU bluff and ask Robbie Deans to coach the Wallabies!

And pay him a shitload on an 8 year option! Let's see how interested he is in a four year appointment then. (Because of the NZ tradition of changing the entire coaching structure every 4 years,I wonder why that is)

I think of the several contenders and there are a handful you simply must eliminate without further questioning:

    1. Jake White- Why? Because despite winning IRB coach of the year he isn't exactly a fantastic coach. Less than 12 months ago his head was on the chopping block and a second loss to England would have seen him long gone. I don't have any sour grapes or anything like that but the Springboks winning the World cup just doesn't seem to have as much of an air of achievement about it and mostly because they didn't face off against too many tough opponents. As TLH says he's a muppet.

    2. Laurie Fisher- He inherited the Brumbies in 2005 and every year has been a bonus point of two from the semi-finals. Taking on a team like that, if you don't at least keep them going on the same level there is something not quite right. But he hasn't got there and he didn't do too much with Australia A and their loss to the JABs was a bit embarrassing really.

    3. Ewen McKenzie- The type of game McKenzie played with the Waratahs just doesn't match up with the Wallabies strengths and weaknesses. McKenzie used a dominant forward pack (which we don't have) to play the kind of rugby where you seize of opposition errors and not really make full use of your backline (which we do have). As an ex-test prop you can't argue he can resolve our front row issues re Matt Dunning and Al Baxter.

Baxter and dunning are the NSW front row....Granted, they seem to play better in the Tahs outfit rather than the Wallabies outfit, but they are still both pretty crappy...

All I'm saying Seldom is you can't rely on the AllBlacks post being a long term gig.

Most international coaches are pretty used to living with their heads on the chopping block, but the knives are especially sharp in the land of the long white...

hes 'aving a laugh!! seldom you won it over 20 years ago

deans will take nz job and be very successful as there is no rwc for another 4 years, and by that time he may leave to be the aussie boss, give david nucifora a 2 year deal and take it from there.

Yeah it would have to be Johnson or Nuci. Johnson because of the work he did with Wales and recent work with the Wallabies could be written off as inhibition by JC. Nucifora because he's proven he doesn't take any crap from his players and has performed with both the Brumbies and the Blues over the last couple of years. I don't think Robbie Deans is seriously considering the Wallabies job. I think he's just expressing interest as a form of leverage to the All Blacks coaching job. A shame though because he would probably do incredibly well as JON would support him all the way.

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
