i think we might have to agree to disagree again mate.
that big issue is that Valentine in the limited game time ive seen him play has been pretty unremarkable, he doesnt have the same line speed that Stannard has and he doesnt have the silky passing skills that COY has, he is however consistent.
Stannard has all the makings of a great halfback if he fixes his error rate and if we bring in Valentine he will demand some sort of gaurantee that he will at least initially be given a fair ammount of game time, reducing Stannards by a large percentage ,which he will not enjoy much at all, (read ask for release)
the flip side is we dont have someone that replaces yak's skills and i think thats why everyone is baying for more options at 9 but i dont believe having 4 resonable half backs will help us in any way other than depth to avoid problems with injured players.
If thats the reason.. we already have 3 halfbacks and 1 will return next year... maybe.
pointless waste of funds IMHO
For Adam Clarke see the thread:
New Zealand Halfback Joins The Emirates Western Force
It says he's only on contract for one year. How can we really know what Valentine would be like for the Force anyway? A lot of players have found a change of environment and coach the catalyst for the best form of the lives.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Agree with you there BLR..developement should occur by all means however we still need to achieve certain results to remain competitive. As I've mentioned previously in this thread, a one year contract for Valentine with a extension clause seems to be the way to go in my opinion.
clarkes contract was payed out back in feb when mcgrath was bought back. coy signed for two years when he came back round same time.
