2 red cards in one game (for punching), not sure if you'd use the word brawl, by the time everyone ran in it was more to break it up and help the guys who were down. btw only the finals were filmed, and this was a group stage game. The punches appeared to be a massive over-reaction to something so doubt they will get off lightly.

It was between Paly vs HE (the other Wanneroo team). The Paly player threw the ball into a HE players face (not sure why). The HE player then punch him and he fell to the ground. Then another HE player came and punched the same player while laying knocked out on the ground! Both received red cards which meant they were out for the tournament. Not sure if there will be other sanctions.

I wouldn't treat these assaults too frivolously. The Paly player suffered significant bodily harm and was/is in a bad way.
I believe an MRI scan needs to be conducted and he is not out of the woods so far as permanent head trauma is concerned.

My understanding from people that were right there was that it was a most unsavoury incident and the guy that was king hit and then king hit again whilst lying unconscious on the ground had not done anything to provoke the situation but was in fact trying to calm the situation.

The "Sunday" show on TV on Sunday evening had a fairly sobering article on the long term effects of being knocked unconscious on football fields - we all accept that rugby is a body contact sport but cowardice should be punished severely. This guy could have sustained long term brain injury and the fact that it was a deliberate act turns my gut.

These matters are best handled by the Police.

Not sure we'll ever know the outcome of the rugby judiciary hearing but from past experience they'll get a few weeks suspension and it will blow over. There needs to be some accountability and legal liability for these "thugs" for thats what they are.

A minimum one year suspension would be my call.

There is never any correlation between the sentence handed out to a perpetrator of violence and the sentence that the victim has to bear, doesn't seem fair.

king hit again whilst lying unconscious -

Sorry but the above account of what happened sounds scarcely believable. I'm not saying that because I'm a Wanneroo player, I've just never heard of someone being king hit on a rugby pitch for doing nothing wrong and whilst unconscious someone runs up and king hits him again! If that really is what happened, then it's pretty disgusting and the police should be involved.

I'd like to see a Life Ban and the Offending players Club fully supporting the Ban and also any civil or criminal action as well.

Lets hope though, that all of the above comments are grossly over exaggerated.
