Oh and by the way, compromise is something I deal with all of the time but accepting the minimum is not something I do.
Sorry if I came across of that, basically I am a volunteer that has covered issues and trying to give the Force what the government is thinking and what will happen, trying to get people not to get their hopes up.

But if you guys want to start going off into dream world and would rather me not get you put down to earth with what is happening...

Then I will not post in stadium threads.

And in regards to your views on Politicians and Reporters

Is there no good ones in the world?

Is it a crying shame that we learn about the issues of politics and the problems in this world, learning about the government.

Luckily Enforcer for you, I have no desire to be a commercial journalist when I graduate or a politician.

Has anyone thought to ask Brian Burke if he will support the development or has that opportunity gone?

Ok a guess as to costs are: Using the recognised benchmark of circa $10,000 a seat for a new stadium, a new build on MES ground will be in the region of $350M. That will give us all the bells and whistles along with carparking etc.

From experience, I know that working on brownfield sites is more expensive than greenfield, unless originally designed for expansion, which MES is not. So for an MES expansion project I would guess circa $300M, based on 25,000 new seats and at a brownfield penalty of say 1.2.

So from my layman’s calculations you are looking at an additional investment of $50M to provide an ideal stadium with the potential for future expansion. Saving $50M will give you a stadium which will be more expensive to expand in the future (if possible at all), have limited parking and with far greater potential of having blow out costs during the design and construction phases.

In (1) are you meaning a bulldozer job on the current one?

In(2) do you mean 25k on top of the current 15,000-odd(?) totalling 40K?

Just thinking that if the second is feasible that would probably be sufficient for all bar Bledisloe or Lions and possibly ZA Tests.

$10,000 a seat? I'd consider paying that for a life membership...

When many new stadiums got built here they charged you $1500 -$3000 a seat for a Personal Seat License. This simply gives you the rights to buy tickets for that seat. You still would have to pay whatever the ticket cost is for the season. You do own the rights and could sell them to whoever you wanted for any price you could get.

Ok, ok Gerry knows which game so I'll be the bunny.

Is that the one where we were sitting behind the goals and had a birds eye view of Kef brushing about half a dozen All Blacks aside to dot down a last minute try and send our greatest test captain out a winner?
