when i decide on a lovely career and find the perfect course and then i go to a careers counsellor and she totally wrecks my dream of ever working in that industry BECAUSE I'M NOT MALE

do i need to say it again FA?
you know what you wanna do. and yeah it might be in a male dominated industry.
But if you want it and you can see it being something that is going to make you truly happy. you should work your arse off to get there. because that way, you will know you have truly achieved soemthing and then you will be able to sit back and appreciate it all that much more because of the effort you had to invest into it to break through all the Y chromosomes in the pack!

the only advice i can give you is NOT to listen to your careers councellor. how are they meant to know if you have the right aptitude and all that stuff for a required field of work?
ask a teacher or staffmember who has had contact with you for a few years, and who you actually respect - as the chances are that they will respect you as well. get them to read the job brief and ask them for their opinion, and ways that you could work towards fixing areas of your academic abilities that are going to positivley benifit your chances of getting into the course you need to do what you want to do!

Take it from an "old bloke" FA, you can do what you set your mind to do. If this is what you want to do grab it with both hands and don't let go.
Give it your best shot, that is all you can ask of yourself.

That's what im doing!!!!....B/Comm (Marketing / Finance) and a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management...so join the club

Most of the people at ND who do BSRM are boys, but they're cool and im better than them anyway haha

You can do sports management at ECU, Curtin or ND...all their SM courses are good. I went to ND so i could do Comms and SRM, this way if i cant get a job in SRM i can fall back on Comms until i get more experience or opportunities....but from my prac so far, i dont think i'll have any probs finding a job, its a wicked industry!!!!!
