''I'm certainly shattered for Gits, being very close mates with him. There's nothing he wanted more than to be a part of the squad and the campaign to New Zealand,'' Ashley-Cooper said.

Giteau still doing the hard yards in hope of a call-up
August 27, 2011
DISCARDED Wallaby Matt Giteau has vowed to continue with an arduous training campaign until told he will definitely not be needed for the World Cup.
But while he will train four times a week with former Brumbies strength and conditioning coach Marcus Kain, Giteau is resigned to his Test career being over.
Speaking for the first time since being left out of the World Cup squad, Giteau said he had ''no regrets'' after his international career was ended.

''I'm pretty proud of what I was able to achieve and there are certainly no regrets,'' Giteau said. ''I'm still training, doing speed work, conditioning and goalkicking four days a week … You don't wish injuries on anyone, I'm staying focused and staying fit. If there are no injuries it just means I will be fit going to play for [French club] Toulon, but I'm just trying to keep myself in good condition if I'm needed.''
A groin injury Giteau carried through the end of the Super Rugby season ruled him out of last night's Barbarians game.
Should any of the Wallabies inside backs suffer a serious injury, Giteau looms as the most likely candidate for a last-minute call-up.
And he feels he is still capable of having an impact if required for the Wallabies' bid to win a third World Cup.
''I knew I was in a position I hadn't been in before [for World Cup selection] because I wasn't in the starting XV. I didn't get picked which is disappointing because I thought I had something to offer, but the selectors thought differently.
''I don't hold anything against them, that's just the squad they've picked.''

You must have missed the crowd attendances after Giteau left
Brand Giteau left a divided team that was in the headlines for off field melodrama like players revolts, whining, excuses, b1tching and pink fun foils.......rarely dazzling winning rugby
Deans dumped him because he's a whining little b1atch that blames circumstance and makes excuses for poor perfromance
Deans wants winners.........and has them
