Strange. I've been only two rows behind you in the same block since we went to nib stadium and my new seats are e227 but row Y...!
Maybe I upset somebody... Or you impressed someone...?

anyone know how the rows work? Surely they don't have 26 rows? Kicking it into row Z takes on a new meaning

Think it's a few more than that. Highest noted to date has been EE, so presumably at least 31.

I'm a little surprised at the access; I would have though they might have easily incorporated some rear stairwells as a minimum, and maybe even a couple of lifts for old ex-props like my father. That many people all simultaneously trying to get down to the bottom of a stand that steep seems a little bit Hillsborough-ish to me.

I would be picking up a fair bit of momentum from row J.

Surely they wouldn't have got a building permit or planning approval (or funding) without a design certificate to say that (if built in accordance with the plans) the structure would comply with all relevant BCA standards, including safety and suitable access/egress for the disabled?

Yep, I have no doubt they absolutely complied with the letter of the code....and nothing more. That'll talk about the width of the exit, indicating each will need to be about 3m - looks marginal to me on the plan, but then publicity pictures do tend to lie. But the standards don't seem to have much to say about the much narrower stairs down to the exit, the steepness of the stair pitch and what happens if people panic or a hundred-odd kilos of ex-rugby player misses a step/loses his balance. One rather interesting Onesteel paper I flicked through did have an interesting example though, estimating evacuation times of 12+ minutes for a significantly smaller elevated seating area than this one. Lucky everyone is patient when there is a fire.

As I say, it surprises me they didn't enable access from the top as well given how well that worked in the temporary stands. I can't see how there will be any disabled access to the upper seating at all though...think you'll find that will be limited to a handful of seats behind the lower level.
