Just to be clear on this: I've posted my dissatisfaction with the lack of information on injured players. I don't expect to have medical details published. But I really feel paid up members should be given an idea of how long they might be missing - where possible. Some rehab times are hard to quantify.

I think that one would completely destroy any policy stance they have on not releasing details. Now them being a rugby organisation I can't say for sure that they have thought broadly about this, but since their process is antithetical of everyone else, I'd suggest they've got somebody clever onto this and somebody is thinking about such stuff. If they weren't thinking straight, surely they'd just follow the herd right?

It’s not like it’s soccer and the guys taking six months off with a hangnail. You can understand them trying to keep that quiet.
May the FORCE be with you!
My abiding suspicion, since it's outside the process that literally everybody else in rugby uses is that somebody in the broader organisation has found something to be ACTUALLY concerned about in the practice which nobody else has identified yet.
I think the most likely real concern with injury reports would be the release of private medical information without permission, (actually the only thing I can come up with that might cause significant issues, but there might be others) and some high falutin' lawyer has advised them not to do it.
Most things outside that space fall in the space of "everybody else does it, I think we'll be OK"

Surely a respective status of-

Would suffice without breaching medical ethics?

I think most punters just want to know if a given player was unavailable/injured or dropped/omitted, not really about patient diagnosis…

The NRL and the AFL seems to be able to put the information out regarding injured players. It's not even specific information, just body part and an ETA on a return to play which is what I assume the punters want here.

Such a shame that we are now pretty much season over and didn't get to see Pasitoa or Koteka for the whole season. Pasitoa was expected but I didn't realise Kane would be out all year. Not to mention we only got Rodda for what 2 games.
Now Rodda appears to be out of the RWC after re-injuring his foot: https://www.theroar.com.au/2023/06/2...njury-setback/.

Damn. That's horrible news. Really feel for the guy, and it's a big loss for the wallabies.
I guess / hope that means he's going for surgery and might be good to go next year?
