That really sounds like a lot of fun on a cold night..Rockingham & Kalgoorlie always treat visitors well, play the game hard and enjoy your company. It sounds like these guys further down south need to listen to a great rendition of "Stand by Me" that is going around. Having played against visiting school teams, country teams and Navy teams from overseas a hard game and fun together after was always the plan and result (spoons included). WTF has changed so much that we have got to this?
ARKS 13 - Wests 10
ARKS back in Prems?? Could it be???
There are 3 types of people in this world, those that can count and those that can't
Nah, it's only Wests.
Faa ark's sake
Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.
Anybody no the mand/neddies score
Goats got up over Cott, cant remember the score.
As I have stated previously, the Cup Competition needs to get some teeth and meaning otherwise the Prem clubs will continue to send social teams to the games.
Interesting to see the results and the relative responses, depending upon which team is supported. The Premier club teams will say "we only sent lower grade/social players down", whereas the Championship clubs will say "we did pretty well against that mob".
The latter being more to the point: giving them exposure to that level and (hopefully) some aspirations.
i watched half of the joondalup vs baysie game. Bayswater put out their 3rd grade team with about 5 under 20's filling in where they could, and Joondalup was a mixture of their firsts and reserves as not many players had made themselves available and a few late withdrawals (Joondalup only had one reserve). Was always going to be a close game in my eyes, both teams pretty even in size but there were heaps of basic errors which slowed the game down a bit. I believe Joondalup got up in the end 17-15, well done to them but as it has been said before mid week games during the season are not the way to go!! Would have been better to take advantage of the long weekend and have a round robin tournament or something?!?
I really hope the championship teams don't read too much in to their wins, as RM stated most of the Premier clubs are putting out social teams.
Feedback from Neddies guys was that they were well received by Mandurah Folk, a great meal put on after the game and a long drive back some only getting home around 11:15pm. They did say Faaark it was cold.
As for the Mandurah supporters, the Neddies folk figured Mandurah thought it was Neddies Premier side that went down. They put the abuse down to the fact the Mandurah supporters thought Neddies were "legends in their own lunchbox"
It was rustled together pretty quickly on Tuesday and Wednesday and no Premier grade players in the side, but it was a great opportunity for some of the Colts to have a run with seniors from Reserve, 3rds and 4ths.
The score suggests a closely fought game and by no means disrespectful by Neddies at all.
If Manudurah, Arks, Curtin etc are all keen for this, I reckon with a bit of planning we could make this into a great comp.
sounds like all the matches were a great hit out and gives the championship clubs plenty of encouragement and be a good retention tool (hopefully) for them . would have been disappointted if the scores were one sided as that wouldn't have done anybody any good
good on RugbyWA for trying something different , need to perservere with it and give it some legs for the future
so what is the structure to this competition, so far the champ teams have played 2 prem sides and each prem side has now played 1 champ team.
