That was all going well until we got a scrum free kick and Wells called for another scrum, even though we'd been toweled up in the first scrum. My head exploded as soon as the call was made and I knew a penalty and rebel try would follow.
Pretty hilarious after the media this week about Wells being a smart player/captain, with a great tactical mind being able to read the game, etc.
The skip can’t be totally to blame. What happened to some of the other team leaders on the field. Surely we have someone who can help read the play.
Have just seen the score as travelling OS.
Disappointing result but at this stage can't comment on the effort.
Looking forward to watching the replay after I return to Perth on Saturday.
Hopes for a cracker of a game at HBF against the Chiefs next week.
ps Have I ever said how much I dislike losing to the Rebels?
Last week's Roosters are this weeks feather dusters! Fu@k that sucked!
I don’t think anyone needs clarification on the biggest problem we had in that game!
Why on earth compound what would have been a pre-known weakness at scrum time, against an ALL WALLABY front row by taking that short arm penalty on 5 minutes in to another scrum…. For a leader with such tactical acumen? that was dumb! It set the tone for the game.
The Rebels fired a warning shot after 2 minutes on our 5m line! How Sir didn’t call that scrum against us I do not know? Everyone saw it…. Even our myopic commentary team. They were after blood with those 2 pre-engagements. It appears we need two thirds of our front row to be above average to even secure parity. Ascendency is a very distant aspiration.
I only hope Anstee’s inclusion in the second row was forced because of injury? If not it’s baffling to guess why the decision was so.
The casual observer would struggle to believe that BOTH teams had finals hopes on the line. We barely threw a punch. No different to when we got towelled by the Reds at the same venue this year. We were told “it was unacceptable”, and yet there we have it.
It’s obvious where we need to strengthen and recruit. Our entire international front row will not be available next year. Robbo, maybe only for part of it. Get on the phone Hodgo and work your magic, or last night’s performance will become the norm.
We are very much at the bottom of the pile of the Aussie teams. The Rebels haven’t had a lucky year, they’ve been building all season and should have already had a finals berth, but for the ability to close out a game or 3. They’ve recruited well for next season & won’t be taking their foot off the gas.
The same performance next week will see the Chiefs put a lot more on us than the Rebels did…. Then the numbers will really dwindle

Great game, Fucken battled right through to the 80!
Always good to spank the Farce. The home grown talent is really showing at the Rebels. As Eddie said the farce are basically the baa baas no heart or soul and it sure showed.
Thing is, for next week ... even a losing bonus point would be kinda handy.
Would love to see a repeat of last week's outcome against the Brumbies, who wouldn't? But staying in the fight and keeping it close is the first step.
An honourable result could still be enough to get a QF berth.
The chiefs may rest their entire A grade side and send a reserve grade side all the way to Perth. We might be in with a chance.
