Basically it shows that the reason why Global warming got off its feet in the first place, why people believe it, then it shows how much impact the sun has on the tempurature compared to co2, how badly solar panels just don't work in Africa, etc,etc
It's a socialist/enviromentalist movement to end capitalism. Global Warming is worth billions of dollars, it has created over 70,000 jobs. They show how these people make up the stats to keep their jobs and money.
Al Gore has made millions from Global Warming, and yet he continues to use more power, use more private planes, etc,etc
Global Warming is a lie.

Shame I didn't get to see the vid, it would have been interesting. “Global warming is a lie” is like saying the holocaust never happened. It's admitted it is happening by the most eminent of scientist on both sides of the accepted debate. But as with everything there are always extreme ideas and if you want to believe these then it is your right to do so. However, I do believe that complete denial is a particularly amusing stance to take, as it has no possible scientific basis. No personal slur intended.Originally Posted by YOTC
I suppose you can say that humans are part of the natural cycle but in terms of the global warming debate human impact on the environment is not regarded as so.Originally Posted by Lonzy

Had some wine-induced discussions with the extended family the other day about this and the idea to spend the money to make your entire rooftop one big solar panel came up. Probably isn't the first time that's been brought up but it seems feasible.
Lonzy - I think human beings stepped out of the 'natural' cycle by in fact evolving so, by placing themselves above the natural way of things and changing things to suit themselves alone and really only for the short term.
Long term, I do believe we've essentially screwed ourselves. Metaphorically speaking of course
Natural resources being exploited as they are, cannot last forever. I mean - how long did it take for these resources to 'become' what they are in the first place? A hundred years? A thousand? A million?
And how long has it taken us to approach the time that they are to run out? A lot shorter time span I imagine.
I want to be unique - just like everybody else!
long term Terri there is still hope - don't write the planet off just yet!!

If we continue to just use natural resources like they're a never ending source, then, I dunno.... maybe not in our lifetimes.... but something's gotta give!

It's not all doom a gloom Terri. With regards to energy resources there are plenty of renewable alternatives and developing technologies to address the future shortfalls. What is the major hurdle is to instigate change so that we ensure that the energy is available from the alternative sources before we enter into a crisis phase. Humans are a funny bunch, we can sit in a house with the world turning upside down around us but still feel safe.

Increased output from the Sun might be to blame for 10 to 30 percent of global warming that has been measured in the past 20 years, according to a new report.
Increased emissions of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases still play a role, the scientists say.
But climate models of global warming should be corrected to better account for changes in solar activity, according to Nicola Scafetta and Bruce West of Duke University.
The findings were published online this week by the journal Geophysical Research Letters.
Scientists agree the planet is warming. Effects are evident in melting glaciers and reductions in the amount of frozen ground around the planet.
The new study is based in part on Columbia University research from 2003 in which scientists found errors in how data on solar brightness is interpreted. A gap in data, owing to satellites not being deployed after the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, were filled by less accurate data from other satellites, Scafetta says.
The Duke analyses examined solar changes over 22 years versus 11 years used in previous studies. The cooling effect of volcanoes and cyclical shifts in ocean currents can have a greater negative impact on the accuracy of shorter data periods.
"The Sun may have minimally contributed about 10 to 30 percent of the 1980-2002 global surface warming," the researchers said in a statement today.
Many questions remain, however. For example, scientists do not have a good grasp of how much Earth absorbs or reflects sunlight.
"We don't know what the Sun will do in the future," Scafetta says. "For now, if our analysis is correct, I think it is important to correct the climate models so that they include reliable sensitivity to solar activity. Once that is done, then it will be possible to better understand what has happened during the past hundred years."
Although yes, we have had some input into the global warming, I strongly believe this is just the way it has all unfolded and there isn't much else we can do about it. I think we should change our focus onto the huge sustainability problem we are facing. It is predicted, if we continue to use resources at the same rate we are now, we will have run out of all finite resources in under one hundred years.
I reckon this is a much bigger problem, and it is something we can change.

The Global Warming theory is just a theory that it is being used to generate revenue and prevent developing countries from becoming industrialised.Originally Posted by The EnForcer
I do agree that we should be using renewable energy, but it seems to me that our governments (UK, USA and Australia) are ignoring the difficult issues and concentrating on the dodgy ones that just happen to be easy to charge people for. For a Scotsman, you seem mighty keen on giving Al Gore and co. money for CO2 taxes![]()
Global warming is not a theory it is a commonly agreed fact. What is in debate is the human effect and if we can change the effect we have on it.Originally Posted by Goldmember
I'm not sure how the UK, Australia and the USA can be put in the same bag because their current positions are quite different as far as accepting the Kyoto agreement is concerned. I'm also not sure which easy solutions you are talking about but if it is the use of renewable energy rather than carbon sequestration, and the likes, then I think you will find the current US policy is very much in favour of not going down the route.….....not at least until the fat cats have sucked up all of the profit from oil and gas.
You will have to explain to me how "Al gore and co" (whoever they are) are going to profit from this? No doubt there will be profit involved as this is the only way to drive the major companies into action at the end of the day.
And unfortunately, this wee Scotsman has accepted the awful truth that I may have to spend a wee bit of money to make the future for my children better.

What a great policy. Couldn't have thought of a better one myself! I bet the politicians are rubbing their hands together and laughing at us all right now.Originally Posted by The EnForcer

well all the fossil fuels are going to run out soon enough so we will be forced to use alternatives!!! muhahaha ... my evil plot is working!!!!
okay so heres an idea, Australia is a fairly hot place... with a tonne of roads ... all these roads get extremely hot ... why dont we intergrate some solar pannels on these roads? I recon we'd be able to get a heap of power from that! could work ...
