These sorts of things were, unfortunately, inevitable.
A new coach doesn't want the old coach hanging around. A new coach will be looking to the future. The ARU will want to use the Force as a feeder to the Wallabies.
We, as fans, don't get to have it both ways. We can't say "We want everything to stay the same but we want the team to win!". That's just naive.
Matt is the heart and soul of the Force. He, more than any other player, IS the Force.
It was inevitable that in a clean sweep of the players and coaching staff that Matt would be 'encouraged' to take his European retirement.
I hate to see him leave, but if he does I hope he makes a shit load of money in Europe or Japan and comes back to the Force as a coach.

Foley could not have carried on next year, but surly 1 month is not going to make much difference to change.
What the force have now is players playing for foley and not the assistants. Weird!!!
Sinderberry and foley can't be mates!

Would think that link or fisher would be the best options, not sure how realistic that is though.
We don't have a blank cheque in regards to recruitment though - as far as player payments go.

It doesn't matter what coach you get, the Force will continue to bimble around on the bottom of the table until the main issue is addressed and that is getting a high number of quality players. We are recruiting guys who were in their prime 5 years ago, guys playing club rugby in country NSW, guys like JOC, who are motivated by money and won't in all likelihood give 110% on the pitch and then we get upset when they lose! What do you expect is going to happen. We have 2 guys in the Wallabies 39 man squad, 2 that's it.. and we are playing teams that have 17, 18+ internationals in their squad. Even those warming the bench have int caps, whereas ours were playing down in Kalamunda the week before in front of a crowd of 32.

Mistakenly thought the ARU taken over would be good for the Force, the 'help' that has been accepted may just be the knife that will cut the throat of super level rugby union in Perth.

Personally, I don't think Hodgo could be sacked without losing at least half the members and sponsors. After being kicked in the teeth with results for 10 seasons, and losing 2 coaches in a row before the end of their contracts, there needs to be some loyalty shown somewhere and Hodgo is the beating heart of this team.

How on earth do they plan to "improve the Force without detracting from the competitiveness of the others"?????!!!! Isn't that exactly what we've been struggling with for the past 11 years??!

The plan is to boost our squad with players that are not incumbents at other franchises, and struggling for regular game time like Jono Lance. These would be players of a higher calibre than we have had before to make it viable. Come 2018 it expected a number of players may decide to return to Australia to put themselves in line for a world cup call up in 2019.

All stakeholders realise that becoming competitive is the catalyst to solving most of our issues.

On Nathan Charles, I sincerely hope the guy is doing OK. I am concerned his illness might be starting to creep up on him. I really hope that's not the case.

Brett McKay seems to understand the situation

    from http://www.theroar.com.au/2016/06/17...ts-bench-spot/

Foley move could force Reds’ hand
If there’s one organisation that didn’t need yesterday’s news that Michael Foley’s time with the Western Force was up, it may well be the Queensland Reds.
In the middle of their own process to name a head coach for 2017 – we presume, there have been no real updates – the Queensland Rugby Union may now find themselves having to conclude their process sooner just to be sure they get the coach they really want.
A really interesting situation now exists, in which the ARU desperately need to find the best possible coach available to take over in Perth. It means they could, in effect, be competing with the Queensland Rugby Union for candidates.
Current co-interim head coaches Nick Stiles and Matt O’Connor could well be enticed to apply for the Force job, either as a fall-back position or even to force the Queensland Rugby Union’s hand. Stiles was an assistant at the Force before returning to Ballymore in 2014.
And wouldn’t it cause a stir if the Reds’ preferred candidate knocked them back because the ARU tabled a better offer to coach the Force? Cue the conspiracy theorists!

Stiles can stay at the Reds.
