That Mo'onia Gerrard, Australian Netball star, sister of Mark and cuz of Cliffy Palu, a) goes out with Dave Dennis and, more importantly b) has her eye set on playing Rugby Sevens for Australia at the Olympics. Pretty good little profile piece between tonights two netball Internationals.

A "monkey" is a brass ring that is screwed to the deck of masted warships.Inside the monkey, the cannonballs are stacked into a pyramid. When the temp. dropped to a certain depth, the brass would shrink and the cannonballs would roll off.So if I was to say "It was cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey" can only be taken as offensive by the uneducated

Yeah, except it's not true, for a number of reasons:

    1. Cannonballs weren't stored stacked in a pyramid - in high seas there's too much risk of the balls sliding off, rolling round and damaging the ship.
    2. Cannonballs weren't even stored on deck for the off-chance of going into battle. Decks tended to be kept as clear as possible.
    3. Cannonballs weren't kept exposed to the elements where they could rust. That might lead to the shot jamming in the barrel of the cannon.
    4. The physics doesn't work - the variation in temperatures you get at sea mean that the thermal contraction of both brass and steel would only be minimal (~3% max), with steel contracting slightly more; so when it got cold the balls would actually settle slightly better into the mythical racks, not pop out.

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.

I did not know that astronauts have a piece of Velcro inside their helmets so that they can scratch their nose when outside the spacecraft.

In Tasmania it is an offence to wilfully damage or destroy a meteorite.

Have you checked out this site Normie? Some great ones on there!

I also understand there is still a law on the statute books in England that allows an Englishman to shoot a Welshman with a bow and arrow within the city walls of Chester after midnight!

So, watch out WelshRugbyFan if you ever visit Chester!!

Technically, zebras are black with white stripes; a shaved zebra would be completely black.
